TRACK INFORMATION

Race Track: Turf. 2700m oval track. Races up to 1160m straight course; beyond 1160m clockwise round turn with 800m run-in. Track rises 12m from 1600m to 800m marks, making it most testing circuit in SA.

Best Draws: Low-number draws favoured over 1400m and to a lesser extent 1600m.

Going - Good
False Rail - Zero on back straight to 4m on the bend with a 4m spur at the 700m mark

As mentioned, lots of hotties on the card - my take on their chances:

R1: Flashlight all the right credentials - but too short in the market for my money; obvious danger Island Mistress, but also rather skinny imo; Tuscan Light may need the run after a long break, so I have gone each-way Galactico - fair runs in juvenile company and imo needed the outing last time, question mark over the trip, but at the odds I'm taking my chances

R2: On straight form, this seems wide open; all the hype around the de Kock gelding - but no value imo - by Medaglio D'Oro, so may need more ground and got beat by 2 unfancied runners last time - could still win easily of course, but not for me at the odds; looking past that one, there are lots that can feature; Petersham tries blinkers and is my sentimental choice as we tried to race his dam some years back; the other Peters runner Trooper has pole position, so who knows; for the BP, either take your chances on the hottie, or you need to go very wide

R3: Captain Morisco comes out of strong form; but another one that has been priced up very short;; I think Bowie with the 2.5 kgs allowance, will give him a run

R4: Rapid Fire another one at odds-on, and he does hold Greens on exposed form; Greens however will go hell for leather over the 1000, and Rapid Fire can't give too much start - I'd include both in the P6.

R5: Mr Flood out to redeem his reputation; I think better over 1000, but the going is on top, so still the one to beat imo; Rivarine I think will be hard pressed here and also seems better over the minimum trip; Bohica in hot form, and will be catching at the end; I have a sneaky feeling that Down to Zero could be the joker in the pack

R6: Golden Belle all the rage, but again no value at the odds; huge swing in the weights with Pool Party, who is ideally suited to this track and trip, definite each-way value; Ulla with the postage stamp weight could surprise, but does seem better over 1000

R7: Competitive; Heart of a Legend thrown in at the weights, but more than a year since her last win, should be thereabouts; Strada Statale tries 1600 again, but should also be right there, while I also fancy the chances of Magic Milla, who should now be back to her best after 2 come-back runs; none of the others bar Movie Award can be written off

R8: Bold Fortune very good debut; 2000 may be a stretch on only her 2nd racecourse appearance, and she did start at big odds in her debut; so could win easily, or run out of the money; not a lot between Nabeela and Super Duper, while the only other one to boast some recent form is Charming Lass

R9: Betting support is for Prince in Waiting, but needs to improve on his runs to date; stable companion Soldier's Song my first choice and should hold Great Esteem on form, while Another Penny seems to be improving and can't be ignored against this lot
