With rain about, Friday`s racing now takes place on the Fairview Poly. An eight race card due to start at 12:50pm.

TRACK INFORMATION



Race Track: Poly. 1800m near-oval circuit on inside of turf track with 400m run-in. All races clockwise round turn. Turf. 2700m near-oval track. Races up to 1200m straight; beyond 1200m clockwise round turn with 800m run-in.

Best Draws: Poly: Low numbers preferred up to 1600m. Turf: Low-number draws slightly preferred round turn.

I would have preferred it if this meeting were on the turf, but despite the change in surface I still think that Elusive Heart is the one to beat. She has flourished in PE and Luyolo gets the best out of her. As a 3 year old she was not far off Miyabi Gold in the Gold Bracelet over 2000m, so I don’t believe that the step up in trip will be a problem. She has run a couple of good races in Durban on the poly, and she has galloped on the PE poly as part of her prep.
I saw Statute as the main danger on the turf, and if she runs to form on the poly is still a threat. Princess Irene is another that I would have expected to be in the places, but she is also unexposed on the poly.
American Princess is improving and is distance suited and has run well on poly, but I am very surprised that she is the early favourite as she must step up quite a lot getting only 1 kg.
Our other runner on the day is Twin Falls in a wide open contest where anything can win. She has won on the poly and cracks a good draw. She is a little high in the ratings, but I think she is fair ew value as the outsider at 12/1.
I don’t think that Meryl was ridden well last time, and she should make amends here.
Modakhar has a wide draw to overcome but should get Ziets into the winners box.
Just Sonic the danger.
Tiger in the Sun still has room for improvement, but the last race is wide open if he doesn’t make it.
