It was all over them when sitting at the back...had to slow down and switch behind the horse just in front of it...and then took off like a scalded cat...

a real looker, too...

Quickened well, will do a replay

Difficcult to assess with lightly raced horses.
He was very,very impressive.

This was top class... impressive!

...stunned...has the ped of a 10 furlong contender.....:oops:

I liked the way he had eventually become:) content running behind them...but when he realised that the jock wanted him to go around and beat them, he relished it like a big baby...

He won very well and showed an excellent turn of foot over a distance almost certainly too short for him, so he could be anything when going his proper trip.
He ran about 102 today, using Purple Cloud (95) as the line horse. On comparative times with other races, the 102 looks correct.

Sophomore Sprint (Listed)

SPEED MACHINE has had his merit rating raised from 88 to 100 after his fluent success in the Listed Sophomore Sprint for three-year-olds over 1200m at Kenilworth on Wednesday 26 August. The Handicappers were of the view that 3rd placed PURPLE CLOUD made for the most suitable line horse and as such his rating remains unchanged on 95.

Runner-up RUSSIAN ROCK had his rating increased from 89 to 95, while 4th placed HOEDSPRUIT is up from 89 to 90. There were no other ratings increases, while the only drop was for FORT RED, who is down from 81 to 80.
