All the trainers that supported Markus Jooste and went against their fellow trainers all for the money, they know who they are,I hope they the first to bugger off.

.....I fear that MOD have bitten off far more than they can chew.....some assets will have to be jettisoned to stop the vessel from going under.....PE with these problems that have come to the surface.....and the slow boil of WC racing that also has no grooms facilities....and a dream of a bespoke training and racing facility at Durbanville now in jeopardy as now residents in the immediate area will be very concerned about anyone looking to accommodate a facility for possibly hostile elements....

Geez Durbs?? If you were a trainer when Jooste came around and offered you expensive horses to train you would have told him to piss off?? None of them knew then what we all know now so I'm not sure why you think trainers are guilty. Maybe you know something the rest of us don't?

......a real shame that IRC had their post race interview pulled from the replay package .... as I was contemplating in getting into horse ownership in order to have some airtime and voice my opinions.....guess another reason to stay out....owners only provide product to bet on.....and not give their 2 cents worth on the way forward....as Neigh said in his post above ....owners are now at the bottom of the pile with no say whatsoever....

From a punter’s point of view I’ve been wondering about packing-in the punting on SA races. Wonderin’ I do. :-(

Elated I would be if Katak goes to the UK.
All half-decent horses should also “emigrate”.

Ugh, this should’ve been on the other thread.

.....while the sales date creeps closer....it is becoming very hard to enthuse ones self to actually take the plunge.....as local racing seems to be in a perpetual state of limbo and even back sliding into a no go zone.....news in is that there has been a case of AHS in the Germiston area and while one would think that while top trainer/s are miffed with the understandings the AHS protocol issues affecting them raiding down to the Cape season .... they (AHS issues) again have been brought to the fore....and we hear the same old swill.... to which Barry Irwin has aptly commented in the SP....now we should be made aware it will may not happen that we can ever competitively export or even get fair value for some super star one hopes to snag at a sale....and if those with greater financial clout could have a better chance of shopping in Ozz and South America and acquire bloodstock to race in more stake profitable racing jurisdictions ....:S

Really interesting points of view and I have to ask myself what would make me buy another horse or return to racing?

Firstly the issue of accommodation for grooms I find laughable, in 25 years with increased taxation specifically to house more people our government has failed dismally. Some how it is racing SA's responsibility, as if every business supplies housing for employees? As soon as the government removed the 3% tax relief from racing I would have renegotiated or closed all groom facilities. Racing now houses citizens and is penalized by a further 3%..... Most if not all grooms have homes on traditional land and the training facility accommodation are secondary dwellings.

On another thread there is talk of the euthanasia of horses and who is responsible..... Well my suggestion is that punters & bookies get their feet wet here and a new 10% tax of all open bets and bookmakers bets contribute specifically towards a happy home for retired horses.

An overhaul of the NHRA as well as the management structures at Phumelela and Gold Circle and a new Owner/Punter focused strategy would definitely have me interested. I know this sounds simplistic however there has been volumes written by many clan members on the mechanics so i will not bore you.
