Race-by-race analysis and selections for Tuesday’s race meeting on the Vaal Classic track -
www.tabonline.co.za
Race 1 1600m
Race Summary: Form runner NU BELL tries 1600m now. She has tired late over shorter but could get away from them against a field of this nature. PEACE DIAMOND must be respected. She faded out on debut before a break and a much better run should be on the cards. EXULTANT, OCEANS PRIDE and EVOKE could fight out minor money.
Selections:
#11 Peace Diamond, #1 Nu Bell, #2 Exultant, #3 Oceans Pride
Race 2 1200m
Race Summary: Many are looking to improve but FOREVER LIGHT runs well over this distance and could get off the mark. GLOBAL TOWN is ready to get into the fight for honours. Expect huge improvement from COLD FUSION – he needed his first run as a gelding. PAW PATROL has ability but appears a difficult customer. He could just find it. CAROLINA REAPER and FORBE’S QUARRY could place.
Selections:
#3 Forever Light, #6 Global Town, #5 Cold Fusion, #1 Paw Patrol
Vaal Classic Race 3
Race Summary: LOTUS went amiss when a firm favourite in her 2nd start but could redeem herself here. OKSANA finished ahead of SWISS BANK recently but the former appears to have more scope for improvement and could reverse the form. SIGNED AND SEALED has a chance if she confirms her last run. MEET THE CAPTAIN could make the Quartet. Watch newcomer PATON’S TEARS.
Selections:
#7 Lotus, #5 Swiss Bank, #4 Oksana, #9 Paton’s Tears
Race 4 1200m
Race Summary: SAN ANDREAS gave start in both runs to date and if blinkers have no adverse effect then could win it. Stablemate JUBILEE is improving with racing and could get into the picture. LAZY GUY is looking for further but could run them down late. REGGAE ROCKS can improve on debut. HURRICANE HEDLEY could make up the leeway on RACING MAN. MEXICO could improve as a gelding.
Selections:
#11 San Andreas, #7 Lazy Guy, #10 Reggae Rocks, #4 Jubilee
Race 5 1600m
Race Summary: BINGWA has been close up in all 3 runs to date and after 2 good seconds could go one better. IN ABUNDANCE is bred for this and could prove dangerous. Look for improvement from HAGRID who sports blinkers now. WILD HERITAGE, GAVS ANGEL and first-timer BAYMAX could take home minor money.
Selections:
#8 Bingwa, #1 In Abundance, #9 Hagrid, #5 Gavs Angel
Race 6 2400m
Race Summary: PALACE GREEN stays all day and finished just ahead of ILLUMINATE recently. He is 1kg better off and should confirm the form. Top-weighted mare LITTLEWOOD was runner-up in her last 2 and should run another honest race. FRENCH LEAVE has found form and could get into the mix. ARTISAN acquitted herself well over this trip when pulling up fatigued last time – respect. Recent maiden winner CUSTOM MADE is bred to stay.
Selections:
#4 Palace Green, #2 Illuminate, #1 Littlewood, #3 French Leave
Race 7 2000m
Race Summary: Honest performer SAMMI MOOSA finished 3,5 lengths behind PINK recently but is 2kg better off and travels 200m further. She could turn it around. THE SASH found the track too sharp for her last time and should get into the action here. PLUM FIELD has the blinkers back on and could get into the money. PUCKER UP and PASSION PEACH could prove best of the others.
Selections:
#2 Sammi Moosa, #3 The Sash, #1 Pink, #5 Plum Field
Race 8 1000m
Race Summary: A good race where horses for jockeys could feature prominently. MADAME PATRICE runs for Striker Strydom and SHEER TALENT runs for S’manga Khumalo. However, they won’t have it their own way because CHE BELLA, WINTER WATCH, ULLA, BEFORE THE DAWN and STELLAR MOTION are all capable of pulling it off and won’t go down without a fight.
Selections:
#11 Madame Patrice, #12 Sheer Talent, #4 Before The Dawn
Race 91000m
Race Summary: ALLEZ LES BLEU is only a one-time winner but never runs a dull race. She finished alongside PERSICA in her penultimate and is 4,5kg better off. She should turn it around. Stable companion MIND READER shouldn’t be far behind. CLOCK STOPPER will be at peak fitness and must be considered. PHILLYDELPHIA and CLAREMORRIS are more for the short list.
Selections:
#6 Allez Les Bleu, #1 Clock Stopper, #2 Persica, #3 Mind Reader
Best Win: #8 BINGWA
Best Value Bet: #2 SAMMI MOOSA

Frodo busy earning his daily bread - for what it's worth, I think Claremorris will go close today - back down the straight over her best distance - not sure abt the draw, but can't get hurt at those odds
