R5, Captain Tatters (13/10), best bet on the card, despite the draw.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Lovely day, will be a headwind later, and track should be running quite fast even though we had a bit of rain this week.
Race 1. Some beautifully bred fillies. Perfect princess wide draw is my first pick. madam Seville good draw and jockey and solid form.Rain In Newmarket decent debut and will be involved in the finish.Ma Black and Fly to Rio can be involved with normal improvement. End of Rock has been backed. Some other fist timers to consider as well.
Race 2. Desert Illusion my selection. Real Gone Kid good debut and can fight it out.. Star Captain and Bumrah will appreciate the better going. First timer Juan Carlos has been backed.

Race 3 Contact Zone very good KZN form, but horrible draw, but still the one to beat. Wylie's Tractor also wide draw and is better this good going so respect. Travel Master good first run but also wide draw but could be in the mix. Greenlightflash and Bezos can be in the quartets.
Race 4 Gate Sixty Nine and Karoo Winter have solid form and are both at value prices. All of Love Note, Marina, Pink Tormaline and Sacha have plenty scope for improvement to contest the finish.
Race 5 The 3 class 4 year olds are Captain Tatters, Libert Hall and Rio Querari and not much between them. My Beatie and Theory of Flight are smart 3 yearolds but a lot to do at the weights.
Race 6. A strong field but a lot of question marks about fitness. Our mare Helen's Ideal was very disappointing last time after a super win the time before. She is fit and well and gets the services of Fourie and a fair draw. She has a solid ew chance.
Clouds Unfold is the class mare, but I can't have her today after bleeding her last start and very unlikely to be fit enough today. Missisippi Burning also returns from a break but must be respected. Pretty Young Thing great run last time and good draw and if fit is the one to beat. Third Runway and Icon Princess are fit and good runs last time- at the weight turnaround Icon Princess can turn the tables. The two three year olds are not out of it- Captain's Ransom the better of the two.

Marcus riding plan for race 1. Push as much as possible at the off and swerve as much to the inside as possible. If I get in I will probably win and be praised. If I don't I will sit 3 wide with a used up horse and fade out. Horrible ride, and I seem to be finding them often lately.

Race 7 Looks a match race between Kasimir and Twist of Fate, with a preference for Kasimir. More Magic and Count Jack look next best but plenty with place chances.
Race 8 Larentina and Phil's dancer are very useful 4 year olds, and may be too strong for the decent 3 year olds at the weights, but any of them could improve to challenge.
