Rowing in with the first timers :-

1 Horse Racing South Africa TURFFONTEIN INSIDE RACE 2 2020-10-10 13:05 8. ARYAAM M/Win 2.86 Pending
2 Horse Racing South Africa TURFFONTEIN INSIDE RACE 3 2020-10-10 13:40 12. DAVID'S PALACE M/Win 1.82 Pending

Aryaam, the Tarry yard starting to hit their straps, not much can be added regards Hewitson's confidence right now. Malvern supported big in the market, for me, has had a few attempts at breaking out the maiden ranks, and any improver will roll her, (dons the egg visor). Winter's Power is the dark horse here especially from draw 1, tends to race handy, and with the going on top, could keep rolling. If not outpaced early in the race, think Aryaam will run them down.

David's Palace, unless Kennedy is contracted to the Hyperpaint Syndicate, think Lerena is on the right one here. Second favourite, Master Mariner, looks inconsistent, never runs two similar races as of late. Leading Lad will have to be really good to win from that draw. Baymax is the likely improver, but will stick with my fancy.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Interesting stand-alone meeting - thoughts ...

R2: Looking at the form; Malvern should be a stand-out bet - luckily I got some 2/1 - now she only has to win; Tarry first-times on breeding should need further, so main danger imo is Winters Power - but on a line through Milan's Princess should be held by the favorite

R3: Trappy start to the PA; first timer David's Palace does not have to a star to win this , but it will not surprise me to see a bit if an upset here; I've been expecting better from Burning Ice, and he did pull a shoe in his last start, so let's see

R4: Fsquadron the obvious one; I think Nussply could make him run - can't really find anything bar these 2 .... perhaps Fast Draw can improve after a break, while Wolffs World may enjoy the extra

R5: Interesting Pinnacle Plate; Barak improving, but surely today is up against it - held by Gold Griffin at the weights on their last meeting, and Odd Rob holds GG on their last meeting; slightly concerning that the stable jock has deserted Odd Rob in favor of Top Shot, but I suspect it is a weight issue; Factor Fifty and Sunshine Silk very capable mares, but may just need a run after their return from KZN; Shenanigans still dropping in the ratings, and despite not getting a claim due to a change in rider, still looks well in with the 2 mares on previous form; then we have Western Fort, who also returns after a break but may improve this trip judging on his run in the Derby .... not easy

R6: I really fancied Holy Man last time; but I see he became 'unbalanced at the 300m mark' - Lyle would want to make amends and on his run behind Astrix should be a huge factor here - so good value imo; he does face some fairly useful sorts; Captain Morisco deserving favorite, but may just be a bit high in the ratings; Spanish Boy was given a strange ride last time and should be running on strongly; Var Aglow also improving, but to me also looks a bit high in the ratings - so I'm rowing in with Holy Ma

R7: Most runners seem closely matched here; then we have the Zim star who could be anything and the re-located Castellano who faced some useful opposition in the Cape - even Now You See Me not out of it at the weights, but probably needed that allowance which is now lost due to the replacement jock

R8: Another tough puzzle to solve; Pinnacle Plate but most runners closely matched and most of these are using this as part of their prep for the Summer Cup - the exceptions are probably Warrior's Rest, Astrix, Soldier On and Fired Up; on his last run, Astrix does rate the one to beat imo, but Soldier On although having never run well at this track, can't be ignored - big weight turn around with Fired Up on their last meeting and on the run behind Zouaves recently, Fired Up may still hold Youcan'thurrylove and Divine Odyssey - although there should not be a lot in it over the extra 150m

R9: The filly Ululate goes for 4 in a row and that is always tough - does get weight though from Prospector, who does look to be her main opposition; but again there are not too many here that can be seen as no-hopers; Rooi Tom has a wide draw but not badly in here and will be catching late; Etched in Blue is in form and course suited - so again not easy

Enjoy B)

Money spot on.
Not sure what was going on in the head of Luke Ferraris on Sergeant York, that was a 4kg claiming apprentice ride.
Mental pace he was setting upfront.
