The jocks in CT are making Marcus look like he's in the prime of his life, when those of us that bet him in KZN couldn't have him on a 1/3 horse of late

The quality of horse and training is different class.
You would think with the world class training facilities in KZN,the best in the country for sure, their horses would dominate but it's the complete opposite.

The Cape jocks are not too smart. Two Divided handicap races, Marcus carrying top weight (Silver Sabre) and second top weight on Our Prized Jewel with the scratching of Helen's Ideal. Don't let the top weight dictate the pace, he will obviously slow it up and turn it into a sprint once in the straight so his mount doesn't "feel" the weight. It is difficult quickening off a slow pace, by the time the back markers get going, the winner past the finish line already.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I wonder if it's not more to do with the quality of horses in Kzn - we have seen Flamingo trainers winning there yet poor Mr Lensley has shown nothing in the Cape and he is a former Champion trainer so it's not his ability - Im so scared to banker Anton in Kzn unless its in the Feature season but in Cape his rides are much more appealing - but who knows I don't have stats to back up my view

I really like Keagan de Melo, make no mistake, but once the top jocks from the regions come to town he seems to go off the boil.
Lacking the big temperament when the going gets tough.
He can do so much better, come on lad

Fair points. I think also, along with the better quality of horses in CT, is better planning by trainers in CT. They race their horses in targeted races once a month, or further apart, whereas in other provinces you see the same horses entered every week, and sometimes more than once a week. Hit and hope. Marcus definitely was on the best horses today, barring Lady Catherine, on which he 100% outrode De Melo, but still, the other jockeys didn't cover themselves in glory in the other races Marcus won.
