Lots of rain - going should be soft, so take that into account when studying

ARCHER'S GIRL have to respect the money here...got PRINCESS SABRINA to beat
I'M AL decent debut and field not too hot... look for a strong challenge from MEZUZAH
FANTASTICAL improving sort and hat-trick looks very likely...jockey strike and decent effort from SHEER TALENT maybe coming back to best
SILVER TYCOON's to win unoppposed...after that take your pick
terrible start to the first jackpot ..a bunch of poor maidens GAL GADOT could improve leaps in this type of field and
MYNAGE to beat for me
TREE TUMBO banker for me and slung in here
PAISLEY PARK first choice and the one to beat on top debut...fancy KINGSLEY'S HEART for a place as well
SECOND BASE on a song and looks good to complete the hat-trick...if he flops then NEBRAAS or TYRUS EXPRESS to pick up the pieces
Always liked ANNE BOLEYN and should have a good place chance but the ever improving BEQUEST looks like a tough nut to crack
enjoy and play well and as Frodo said rain may be about so watch for betting moves

TURFFONTEIN STANDSIDE SATURDAY DECEMBER 19 FORMGUIDES, SELECTIONS, PERMUTATIONS
by David Thiselton
Race 1: Preview: ARCHER’S GIRL (7) is a R4,3 million filly by Dynasty out of the Grade 1 winner Happy Archer. MALVERN (3) stayed on well for second over 1200m last time and could do the same over this trip too. PRINCESS SABRINA (1) was in touch last time and stayed on in a competitive field so should go close here if the first choice doesn’t live up to her pedigree. AMBER LIGHT (6) was not disgraced in two juvenile starts and might have benefited from a 39 week layoff. KISSING BOOTH (10) is a R900,000 daughter of Captain Al and is a half-sister to Mauritius Derby winner Scotsog. (David Thiselton 7-3-1-6-10)
Race 2: Preview: I’M AL (6) made a fine debut in a strong maiden and is the one to beat. MIRACLE AND WONDER (15) ran on to be close up on debut and can improve. RAINY SEASON (
is by Soft Falling Rain out of a Spend A Buck mare and is a half-brother to the like of seven-time winner Photocopy. (David Thiselton 6-15-
Race 3: Preview: SHEER TALENT (2) went close last time when running handy in the Grand Heritage consolation and over this trip she can dictate in this small field. FANTASTICAL (6) looks promising and can remain unbeaten off a 91 merit rating although she has the widest draw in the six horse field. WAY OF THE WORLD (5) ran on strongly over this trip last time to only just be denied and also has a good chance. (David Thiselton 2-6-5)
Race 4: Preview: SILVER TYCOON (10) was backed on debut but came up against a firecracker to be beaten 10,25 lengths into second but in this field can go close. MAJOR WINTER (9) is by Elusive Fort and is a half-brother to the useful Sarah. FREEZING FAST (3) could earn if repeating his last run although he will have to overcome a tough draw. INHERIT THE RAIN (6) stayed on for third over 1160m last time behind a promising type and is interesting tried over further again. NUSSPLY (2) did quite well last time with front-running tactics and could earn. (David Thiselton 10-9-3-6-2)
Race 5: Preview: MYNAGE (3) has a good draw and can make a bold bid from the front. IN LIMBO (6) is a full-sister to Hawwaam but is relatively small and after a moderate debut it does not look likely she will be close to as good as her brother but from pole position over a step up in trip she will appreciate she could be involved. BELLE OF BELIZE (5) was slow away on debut and green so did well to finish second although she had to be hard ridden and would probably prefer further and she has a tricky draw. PHOENIX (11) is by Ideal World out of Grade 1 Golden Slipper winner All Afire but the latter’s first two foals both took a long time to win although this one does look the stable elect on jockey bookings. INDRIYA (7) was outpaced on debut over 1160m but ran on well from a long way back and will relish the step up in trip. (David Thiselton 3-6-5-11-7)
Race 6: Preview: TREE TUMBO (2) finished third in the Summer Cup over course and distance and if anywhere near that form should win. BALLET SHOES (6) finished a close up thirds in both the SA Oaks and Gold Circle Oaks and with a featherweight could be a threat returning from a 22 week rest. IMPERIAL MASTER (5) is more likely to be going all out in this race than the first two choices, who have bigger fish to fry, so has to be included from a good draw with a light weight and a 1,5kg claimer aboard. (David Thiselton 2-6-5)
Race 7: Preview: COPPER MOUNTAIN (2) enjoyed the step up to this trip last time and has strong form-lines but does have to overcome a tough draw and has to carry 59kg. PAISLEY PARK’S (6) maiden win has worked out well and among the horses he defeated in that 1160m event was Bold Jazz, who was 5,50 lengths back, and he now receives 2kg from the latter. BOLD JAZZ (4) has won impressively in his last two and looks to still have scope for further improvement so can go close from pole position. (David Thiselton 2-6-4)
Race 8: Preview: SECOND BASE (5) is by Gimmethegreenlight out of a Fort Wood mare whose only win was over 1400m but this gelding has talent and a big action and gave the impression he could step up to this trip and handle an eight point raise. SET THE STANDARD (2) showed a good turn of foot when winning easily over course and distance last time out and he now has his third run after a layoff so could be a threat. SELL HIGH (3) was one out and one back last time without cover and will do better if able to find cover as he is capable of staying on strongly. NEBRAAS (6) beat Sell High by three-quarters of a length in that race and is only half-a-kilogram worse off. MASTER SUPREME (1) has not lived up to expectations but is drawn well over an ideal trip and has dropped to a competitive mark. (David Thiselton 5-2-3-6-1)
Race 9: Preview: BEQUEST (3) opened up a big lead when winning easily by five lengths around the turn over 1200m second time out and she can remain unbeaten over this shorter and faster course and distance despite being given an eight point raise. HERSTEL (5) finished just 1,25 lengths behind the talented Sweet Future last time when staying on strongly over 1200m and runs off the same mark. IMPRESSIVE DUCHESS (6) was beaten half-a-length by Herstel and is now 1,5kg worse off as she came out and won next time out. TWELVE OAKS (10) beat both Herstel and Impressive Duchess in that race and was only raised one point so she can be thereabouts again if the current trend whereby low draws have not had their usual disadvantage holds. ANNE BOLEYN (1) has talent and can’t be written off despite carrying top-weight. RUN APRIL RUN (9) won her maiden well over course and distance and starts off on a reasonable handicap mark. (David Thiselton 3-5-6-10-1-9)

One of those days that seem too easy - but we all know this is racing, so expect the unexpected in one or 2 races; thought ....
R1: Seems a moderate bunch, which means that the very expensive de Kock first-timer should romp in; only danger might be the other debutante Kissing Booth
R2: Looks like another weak race; I'm Al and Miracle and Wonder stand out; Blue Spark probably needs more ground but is best handicapped of those that have ratings
R3: Fantastical the obvious one, but faces a lot stronger here, and may get some stiff competition from Way of the World and Sheer Talent
R4: Silver Tycoon comes out of a great form-line and has found a moderate field, so another that looks very hard to oppose; Nussply has run some decent recent races, but hard to see him beating the favorite
R5: Seems to lie between Belle of Belize and In Limbo; Indriya has scoped for improvement this trip; Ms Flower Power has improved more than 20 lengths from her first start to her second, and seems way over-priced; further improvement can see her running into the money here
R6: I'm not mad about Tree Tumbo - has a lot to do at the weights to beat both Ballet Shoes and Pomander; I do think Pomander represents real value as she has had 2 prep runs, and although held on form by Ballet Shoes, fitness may give her the edge
R7: Up and coming 3 yr-olds; I think Hewitson may be on the wrong one, as Indlamu comes here off a impressive win in a handicap and for me is better than rated; obviously both Paisley Park and Sea Virescent also have plenty of scope and can't be ignored with Copper Mountain; the value is The Eight Lord who seems over-priced imo
R8: Open handicap; Second Base the obvious one, but may be pressed by Nebraas who should be cherry ripe; none of the others bar perhaps Whipping Boy can be ignored
R9: Bequest impressive last win and should prove hard to beat again; main dangers imo is Me Time, Herstel and Run April Run, while Twelve Oaks surely needs to get her head in front one of these days, but does seem better at the Vaal
Enjoy

Race 2 Mazuzah must be some value.

Durbs, the horse doesn't know what price it costs, or the betting on the day. Think the second horse will decent over time.
