Most interesting runner on Met day is Kommetdieding in the Politician Stakes over 1800m for 3 years olds. A precursor to the Cape Derby.

King of gems (I'm definitely not drunk )maybe a lunatic selection but stranger things have happened and Crawford deserves a met win again

I do agree that the most likely winner will come from either Belgarion, Rainbow Bridge, Do It Again and Golden Ducat- there was not a lot separating the first 3 mentioned in the LQP and arguably they should all 4 be better suited to the 2000 and all have the Met as their targets; I see Cirillo is now trading at 50/1 which is way over-priced seeing that the stable believes that he is now a better horse over more ground - but perhaps the drift is as a result of somebody knowing that he will not run ?

Princess Calla has shortened to 14/1 yesterday, and for me that seems a little short given that there must be some doubt about her being as effective over 2000

Betting will be influenced by which race Queen Supreme goes for - for me personally I do think the 2000 is just stretching her a touch, but maybe the connections will look at the draws first before deciding which race to go for. On my ratings, she ran to around 122 on Saturday, while the males all ran below that; of course the males all should still improve, but strictly on the ratings from Saturday, she would beat them (especially taking into account that she would receive 2.5 kgs from them in the Met) - so I think the connections face a difficult decision whether to run her in the Majorca or the Met - in the Majorca she would face Captain's Ransom, and on a line through Princess Calla, there should not be too much between Queen Supreme and Captain's Ransom

What I was trying to say about Summer Pudding, is that I think we can ignore her run on Saturday (given the mucus issue), as she is surely good enough to have finished in the top 3; however depending on how serious the problem is, and how long it will take to get her back to full fitness, she may not be 100% ready come Met day - and if she is not 100% ready, imo the connections should not risk running her

I think the winner will come from one of these mentioned above; African Night Sky improving back to best but will be 1.5 kgs worse off with Golden Ducat - so if both improve, African Night Sky should still be hard pressed to turn the tables on that one and the others imo frankly can't win at the weight conditions - Malmoos could be a dark horse - not sure what the plans are with him

At 120, he would be getting weight from the top rated runners - so you may be right - however at current ratings, I'd prefer something a little lower in the handicap - like Sachdev

@ Frodo.

Mentioning Princess Calla is from the family of Princess Victoria so the distance could pose a problem but I still fancy it. I was hoping for Chat Ching to be supplemented though.

In the early 1990's in my schooling days they had a filly called Wainui. She ran third in the Met as a 4 year old behind Jungle Warrior.

Interestingly, Wainui, won sprints like the Diadem Stakes, SA Fillies Sprint. She was no slouch over middle distance winning the Majorca and Queens Plate. Her half sibling, Waitara ran second to Pas De Quoi in the Met.

To receive substantial weight to get an advantage, Rainbow Bridge, Do It Again and now Golden Ducat has to line up.
The first two seem to had their glory days and in a handicap will be difficult. Golden Ducat could take part as it Rattray ambition to win the July.

Silver Host, could be interesting as it was last years Cape Derby favorite.

Frodo - should Malmoos run in the Met, then what I have been trying to highlight for months about the very strange (choosing my words carefully) selection of jockeys by the Sands yard will again come to the fore.

Who will Ferraris choose to ride, for MDK and the big international owner or for Sands and the medium size local owner / breeder. Sands might get lucky and Kennedy becomes available.

Besides Golden Ducat, Sands yard has struggled for a while, the only other winner i can recall over the last few months was Captain Flinders at a big price.

Sands using different jockeys every week cannot be helping, i see Van Niekerk will riding this weekend.

Can you imagine how confused the punters must be.

Early bird prediction Double...…..

ERIK THE RED...WIN...…
MALMOOS WIN/PLACE.

A 3 Y/O has beaten the oldies in the QPlate carrying more than 54 kg.

I see Queen Supreme is back in Randjies, wouldn’t be taking any Ante-post bets just in case
