They rate the Gold Challenge higher than the Queen’s Plate. Interesting.

I struggle to see how the Arc can only be 11th, arguably the greatest race in the world which always assembles the best around?

No sprints for SA.
I have always believed that Jhb should punt the Computaform Sprint as its flagship race. Reallocate the stakes from the other features into this race and make the prize money double the next highest race. Not only will coastal sprinters raid the high altitude but so too their stable mates for the mile and intermediate races. Very few coastal runners raid Jhb’s other Gr1 races which questions the grade integrity of these races.

The top five sprints in that list all go to Australia. OK.
(Unless I was cross-eyed when perusing the list).

Think it`s to do with the quality of rankings that make up the fields, hence the South Africa races are included with our inflated MR system

I think they have rated the races by the rating achieved by the winner for that particular race.
South Africa is a Part 1 Tier country in horseracing, one of the reasons our races was rated. Our local merit rating, will not count. Our horses is assessed by an international panel when they compete in overseas racing and will get a new rating.

I agree with you Sharky, even Nijinsky ran 2nd (ok a few stories) but when a triple crown winner got touched off gives you an idea how difficult a race it is to win.
