Morning good people, i know the day is gone and dusted but they should rather not call it Greyville instead call it Graveyard. I may not know as much as you guys about racing but anyone can see something is really wrong in Durban. In a 6 horse field the first 3 horses in the betting dont even turn up in the placings. I strong feel that theres a bigger picture we are missing. This has to be pre-planned by sone few who are gaining by this system and cashing in on the exotic pools and us poor chappies are just getting the bitter end of it. Anyways this is just my thoughts, like i said im no fundi but i try but it saddens me to to see such things. First half of the cards everything goes smoothly then the2nd half the money horses cant even make the placings. All to fishy for me😪😪

I have been on such a poor streak of luck these last 2 odd years that my daily punting outlays has even gone from very decent to almost non-existent the few odd bobs. I do appreciate reading comments here regularly just wish i could apply it and turn this streak around for a change😔

hi
i also thought the same in the beginning but had to consider all the facts...weather conditions have been hampering training etc...horses being moved on short notice from course to course...trainers and owners under pressure with this pandemic to keep horses fit and the list goes on...long story short , there is money to be made if you adopt a shrewd betting strategy...just my 2 cents

JAG, here's my take on South African horse racing.
Midweek racing caters for the lower rated horses, so be very selective when putting money down/taking a bet. That is the real reason the results are so erratic. Don't bet for the sake of betting, wait for what you perceive to be a likely winning opportunity. Forgot, KZN racing is poor irrespective of the day of the week, PE racing is just as poor. I try an avoid betting at those centers. Generally, the higher rated horse run on Saturday's, KZN aside, and the results are marginally better than midweek.
Exercise patience, or as they say, "slowly, slowly catch a monkey".

I think today is not for the feint-hearted - thoughts:
R2: Say When does look hard to oppose - should prefer this trip and further and from a fair draw rates the one to beat; main danger is Golden Spoon, who jumps from pole position and should also prefer this trip; Gal Gadot, Ms Flower Power and Bright Eyed Girl to challenge for the placings
R3: Small field where Heart Stwings is rated well clear on the strength of her good second to Silvano's Pride - has also shown good form at this track and if close to ready on her return from the Cape, should take some beating; if she fails, Shivers or Sidonie (tries further) can take advantage, while Snow Palace does run a good race every once in q while, so may pop up one of these days
R4: The first of 5 handicaps forming part of the P6; Sparkling Waters has scope to improve, but from a tricky draw may not have it all her own way; Kay Tee Perry also is drawn wide, and may be running on too late, but a fast pace (might be set by Fire Flower) will help, so should be right there again; most of the others (bar Short Skirt Flirt) have some sort of chance though, and my value in the race is Paschals Samore - 2 wins at this track for this jock (one when she had Kay Tee Perry behind her), and a good draw - upset potential imo
R5: Very tough handicap; Atomic Blonde is a winner this track and trip, has come down in the ratings, so has as good a chance as any and looks value at current odds, but most of the others can't be discounted - Hewitson puts up a kg overweight to ride Manitoba  .
R6: Another tough handicap; even the biggest outsider Tallinn has come down in the ratings after once having run 4.5 lengths behind Summer Pudding at level weights - goes over a more suitable trip and can't be ignored imo
R7: Lots of scratchings makes this slightly easier imo; Dubawi Princess now back in form, tries the track and does look a worthy favorite; she does have to give Capitiana 4.5 kgs, which should bring that one right into the race at these weights (massive drop in MR); El Zara obviously needed her last run badly, and as a result of the scratchings does come into a more reaonable draw - may still need another run, but likes this track so has a place chance at least; Persica and Rise as One the others to consider
R8: Last of the handicaps, and perhaps the easiest one; Vars Vicky tries slightly shorter again, but is a winner this track and trip - looks to be better than this field and could be the right one to take a chance on in exotics; biggest dangers imo Spring Break and BattleofTrafalgar
R9: Classified Stakes to close, but as the ratings suggest that Twice the Act at 28/1 is the one to beat (after being dropped 4 points since her last run), this is a nightmare; I'm including 7 runners in the PA and I'm still not confident; Zabarjad has been running fair races (bar his last start where he tried blinkers) and his rating is still dropping, but a wide draw is not to his advantage - so maybe a place chance
Enjoy
