This is ridiculous. Eldoriza was a Grade 1 winner, winning the Nissan Challenge known as the Schweppes before. Robinson was a assistant to Brown. Should have changed the name in my opinion.

According to IFHA rules a name can be used again after 20 years but with certain conditions like sires or if a racing authority has put a hold on the name due to it being a champion, etc.

Eldoriza was the last horse to win an official match race beating High Profile at Clairwood though recently they had that Heritage match race.

Sad.

The race to watch is the one at Turffontein when Eldoriza was younger, he ran in my great friend Morgan Chetty’s colours.

So much more to the story if I remember...Almost retired due to a hoof problem, this horse had guts and huge heart

Bloody ridiculous. Please can the NHA step in here and make them change the name of this horse. They are killing what little heritage racing has left, soon it will be memories of one year wonder horses winning bookies sponsored feature races.
