Certainly there is money for a couple of first timers in race 1 and 2
Modern Magician
Sound of Summer
Looking at pick carry over
Race 4 very open and need a few.
Race 5 same
Race 6 War a banker but Sparkling Water could surprise.
Race 7 catch 22 slightly favoured over Malmoos
Race 8 do fancy MK but have to add a few.
Race 9 banker Forever Mine to keep perm reasonable.
Good Punting

Race 1 Hope is Power good form- the first timers will have to be smart to beat him.
Race 5 Shortlist is African Adventure, Tyrus Express, Don't Look Back
Race 6 War of Athena would have been my pick even if AG were running
Race 7 Must respect that Malmoos is unbeaten on the Highveld, but I will go with Catch Twentytwo. Both should have no trouble with the extra 200m. Second base, Bingwa and Copper Mountain are all tough competitors.
Fort Wood's influence on this race is notable- damsire of Malmoos, Second Base and Copper Mountain; grandsire of Catch twentytwo and Dr Doolittle's dam is by Horse Chestnut.
race 8 MK's Pride can step up to beat the older brigade. Cirillo is classy and effective this trip. Got the Greenlight I think will need it and more effective further. Express from The US in good form are the three he has to beat.
Race 9 Forever Mine looks way too low in the MR on his last two efforts and is a confident selection.

Lovely card - I do enjoy the features in Gauteng - obviously from a purist point of view, one would like to see the Cape stars here competing, but plenty of reasons for them not making the trip, and with them taking a break in the Cape, it actually makes it easier from a punting perspective - thoughts:
R1: Money for the first-timers, but this is a guessing game; for me, weight with juveniles always a factor, so I have taken 1st three on There She Goes in my Yankee - at better odds than the winning odds on a debutante
R2: Trappy race where the first timer does not have to be too good to feature - and betting support may prove significant; Clarkson encouraging debut, but may need 2000m at least looking at the dam; the others seem much of a muchness; Al Quaasim improved in his first run as a gelding and I do seem to remember (could be wrong as I haven't bothered to check) that the dam (although being by Var) was effective over ground - so more improvement possible and would not be a shock winner
R3: Another trappy Maiden; Lucy Belle and Belle of Belize both had their chances - Belle of Belize tries blinkers, so that could be the key, while Lucy Belle has a wide draw again, so may have to settle for a place again; not much between Essence and Lucy Belle, while Golden Spoon tries further again and also gets blinkers, so has to be considered as well; others to consider on form is My Sugar Baby (has had a few chances and a wide draw) and Space Oddity (should improve in 2nd start, but is drawn wide as well)
R4: Competitive F&M Handicap; Lady Amherst overdue and gets a Cornell collar to help with her breathing issues; must be one of the leading lights; All Aglow improving but has more to do here imo; most of the others have some sort of claim (bar maybe Hello Happiness) - nothing between Zernez and Veld Flower on the run over the track and trip and December and Anatura also enters the reckoning on that run - for me places on Anatura forms part of my Yankee - good penultimate behind Senescence and may now prefer the slightly further trip
R5: Lovely stayers handicap; Don't Look Back has proved a revelation since moving to the Highveld - for me still improving and even while going up another 6 points in the ratings, still gets 6.5 kgs from his main rival African Adventure, for who the 2400 is probably at the bottom of his range distance wise; Smoking Hot has the habit of losing ground at the start, and imo would need to jump on terms to feature against these - although a possible moderate pace may assist; Odd Rob is a real soldier but does seem held as is the case with Tyrus Express, but has to be considered for the places
R6: Obviously War of Athena (3rd leg of my Yankee) - Sparkling Water has proven that she stays, but needs more improvement, so probably 2nd best
R7: Not a lot between Malmoos and Catch Twenty Two - on their last meeting they should again hold the van Vuuren pair, while Dr Doolittle has found market support - has been beaten comfortably by Second Base in his penultimate, but that could have been a flat run and he could place here
R8: High class field; Got the Greenlight reportedly as ready as can be, so not without a chance; Cirillo for me has not been running close to his rating in the Cape, and needs to show that he still has what it takes; MK's Pride has been a revelation and should take a lot of beating, while ExpressfromtheUS is in great form (pity about the draw) and looks well weighted to turn the tables on Lady of Steel (and a first 3 finish would conclude a successful Yankee for me); Mill Queen is unbeaten this track and trip and could be dark horse from a good draw
R9: Forever Mine does look hard to beat here; if he fails it is wide open with Down to Zero, Old Man Tyme and BattleofTrafalgar the most likely ones to take advantage
R10: Although Battle Force looks the right one, this is open and not a race I would try to get out of it
Enjoy

Good day all
Copper mountain was touted to be a good horse when it first rain in kzn last run was crammed for space but did well to finish 3rd only surprise Danielson jumps off for flying carpet?Murray not a bad replacement but I'm sure danielson could have retained the ride.
Long distance races normally throw up a shock twice the act won well last time could follow up or be thereabouts also like chitengo
Got the green light long rest but classy horse listening to Joey soma last night there's the obvious big graded races they chasing but class normally pulls a horse through.
Other horses to consider today my sugar baby,Express from the US and big roughey Tallin.
Good luck all
