Think van Niekerk can ride an early double for trainer Nel on the day :-

R2) His Choice x (R3) Rose Princess.

Really fancy His Choice to complete the hat-trick from a decent draw. Is holding form well since being fitted with blinkers and ran above his rating when beating Real Gone Kid who has subsequently come out and won by 3.0 lengths. Could be better than rated and does appear open to further improvement, will take a good one to lower his colours on the day.

Rose Princess, was beaten by the more experienced Helen's Blush last time out. Blinkers fitted today and should appreciate the step-up in distance. Some of the rivals have had a few attempts at breaking out the maiden ranks, being lightly raced, she is another who looks to be open to any amount of improvement. Hoping one of the stable companions will ensure a decent gallop, the stable has three runners in the 7 horse field.

Have played the two in a treble with, (R6), All About Al, who won on debut and could be anything.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

63 runners before scratchings...Yikes, is there no owners left in the Cape?

There only seam to be rich owners left in cape town. Smaller trainers obviously doing ok

I don't believe it's got anything to do with the solvency of the owners, re-instate Kimberley, and the midweek results in KZN might change. There is just too many below average horses racing (Sunday to Friday's), to the detriment of the punters, l think about it.

ALL ABOUT AL on debut I think he's 92 plus - But he was very green on debut - If he's matured they race for second

Some to consider...

Race 2 - Too small field
Race 5 - 2 Kariba Hall, 4 Anecdote
Race 6 - Too small field
Race 7 - 4 Caribbean Sunset, 5 Social Butterfly

All the best to all Clanners...stay safe and healthy...

With the change of course, methinks there can be a few upsets.
