Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I fancy the Woodruff stable to have a good day.
I will play a yankee , e/w and atc places on Hot Marmalade, Anecdote, The Second Wave and Maledimo.

A sunny day, with a light headwind, course should run fast.
Race 1 The 2yo Quick Breeze is the one to beat after a good second in open company last time. Glitter in the Air reverts to sprinting and is the main danger. Hot Marmalade is improving, and Regards to All is capable on best form. Rosie Roan poor last two, but two good runs before that. Two first timers that are unknown.
Race 2. Granny's Moon, Winter Furi and Boldly Go (If Quick Breeze wins the first will frank the form) are progressive 3 yos in good current form. Ma Black was highly rated earlier, and now runs off a very low 69, so is a big threat if finding her form. Hidden Strings has also dropped to a competitive mark. Looks a very open race as 1,6,7 are useful 4yos.
Race 3 Another competitive F&M handicap. The two Snaith runners must be respected, but I like Walk of Fame and Marmalisa to fight it out.
Race 4 Path of Choice is consistent, but he takes on some progressive 3yos and the hard knocker Anecdote. I make Flying Grace the one to beat.
Race 5 A competitive race, where my first choice is All Lit Up to beat The Second wave, but a few others with chances.
Race 6 Chat Ching should win this. Main dangers Maledimo and Lemon Delight. There are others that could show improvement, but Chat Ching is a possible banker. Our filly Helen's Blush is thrown in the deep end here.
race 7 Hoedspruit has consistent big race form, and should be the one to beat, however Fourie has chosen Warrior, which has won its last two very easily against weaker but could be anything. Marina must have a decent ew chance here.
Crimson King missed his planned run in the PE Guineas due to a head injury, but he is working well. He may be slightly in need of this run, and will be better over further, but he is a classy sort and I believe he has a decent ew chance here. He was hampered at a crucial stage in the Cape Derby, which cost him a couple of lengths, and a possible place there.
Race 8 A very competitive race, although Wolf Man seems very progressive and is the one to beat. My runner, Elusive Tango is at the bottom of the boards, but this is his third run after a rest, he gets the plum draw, and he would have gone closer last time but for a crop strike on the nose in the closing stages. I would not be surprised if he runs into the money after a drop to MR66.

7 Ticket To Ride 5.00 5.56 5.00 5.56 4.00 3.57 3.03 2.50 2.86 2.50 2.27
Beaten by it's 33-1 stable companion owned by PeterD who did give it a chance but the stable thought the other one better. All came down to the way they where ridden.
I must say overall some very unimpressive rides today at both venues.

The course was running fast today, and very difficult to come from behind. ET had draw 1 and is a known front runner. It was common knowledge that we would set the pace if we jumped on terms. I think that you should give credit for an excellent ride by Sandile Mbhele. When I saw my horse in the ring, I was very impressed - he was spot on physically, so kudos to the trainer as well.
Ticket to Ride was drawn wide, and was forced to race from the back. He did well to get up into second. Grant van Niekerk phoned for the ride on TTR and certainly tried his best, and I don’t think did anything wrong. People get carried away when they see money for a horse, and lose sight of value. Nothing in that field should have been shorter than 4/1. I am always baffled when horses in open handicaps are so heavily punted. Greg Ennion is a small stable and not a big punter. Greg’s view was that there was very little between his two horses on their work, and he was somewhat surprised at the way TTR was punted into such a strong favourite. One reason could be that he was tipped by some of the podcasts. The talking horse all week was Richard Fourie’s Wolf Man, which was the early favourite, but drifted after the support for TTR.
