Thanks.
These 3yos has won from the year 2000. Trying to ascertain when merit ratings came into effect.
2002 - Ipi Tombe
2003 - Dynasty
2006 - Eyeofthetinger
2009 - Big City Life
2010 - Bold Silvano
2011 - Igugu
2012 - Pomodoro
2014 - Legislate
2018 - Do It Again
When Eyeofthetiger won, from the weight it carried 54kgs, one can presume merit ratings was already in effect.
From my information.
Igugu carried 55kgs. Highest weight by a 3yo filly to win.
Legislate carried 56kgs. Highest weight by a 3yo colt to win.

Any information on presumed jockey bookings for the July. Would like to know who will ride War Of Athena. I thought it will be Smanga but he was going to ride Belgarion in the Greyville 1900.
Presumed.
Gotthegreenlight - Muzi Yeni
Rainbow Bridge - Luke Ferraris
Linebacker - Grant van Niekerk
Kommetdieding - Sihle Cele
Russian Rock - Keegan De Melo
Shes A Keeper/Netta - Warren Kennedy
Presumed.

I think your question should be “who will be riding Gotthegreenlight”?

Thanks. You are correct. Time of Horse Chestnut. It never run in the July due to the weight it would have carried. I see Fort Defiance carried 56kgs that year.

Aah yes the Horse Chestnut and Fort Defiance debacle. MdK made it quite clear that Horse Chestnut would not run in the July but on each subsequent declaration stage Horse Chestnut remained nominated. The strategy was to out-manoevre the rules at the time to ensure Fort Defiance got a low weight. Then the fight started with the Jockey Club ....

after the week end that just passed many blew there chances of making the field.
2 that stood out and in doing so improved their chances of running July
shes a keeper and Matterhorn
Do it again won well but he is a lock for the race. Sir Micheal a certainty next time in a handicap off 94 MR
realistically remaining races to make a move. Pinnacle plates wont do it this year unless u rated above 118
i have 5 fillies still in with a shout of running the July. Always worry they switch to the fillies race at the last minute and bet goes bye bye

There's going to be lots of opportunity for the light weight jocks - Lerena probably stuck without a mount and it would be interesting to see Kennedy's choice - Netta, She's a Keeper or even Atyaab; for me I would put a more experienced jock on Kommetdieding (unless of course Cele wins the Daily News with him)
Anyone knows what the story is with Domeyer - but he also rides at 57kgs, so probably stuck without a ride - after yesterday, Zackey may be on Sovereign Spirit

Interesting - will probably run in the Cup Trial - and would have to win it to make it onto the July log

I am in the Kommetdieding camp and will be backing this in the July ( Go Sihle Go ) :woohoo: but lesson learned with the Hawaam debacle and so it will be a tote bet for me
