Imo, it would not change much, as they both ran more or less to their ratings - and to MoMF, you were right - the Cape horses did prove superior in the DN; I would still argue that on a line through Shak Akbar, Second Base ran around 10 pounds below his rating - he has had a hard season (like Malmoos) and it would not surprise me if they pull him out of the July, unless today was meant to be a prep into the big one

For me on a line through Princess Calla's MET run, War of Athena would have run around 3.5 lengths behind Rainbow Bridge, receiving 8.5 kgs - in the July she will probably receive 8 kgs - but then WFA improvement could very well make up that 3.5 lengths; I would rate WoA's performance today slightly higher than Linebacker's - but what do I know - all in all one for me the July picture looks even more muddled after today

As Mr H says, one would have liked a bet on Rascallion at the odds available before today - doubt if one will even get 10s on Monday :huh:

Agree. Similar to Malmoos' run in the Champions Challenge I feel. Takes a truly exceptional colt/filly to win the 3 legs and come to KZN and win another Gr 1 I feel.

As of today, GTG (he's so well weighted if RB runs) and WOA for me in the July.

thanks guys just think rascallion was flattered a bit because if linebacker ran straight would of won easier for a grade 1 derby winner to run from 1 side of course to other was strange just shows me at least still plenty to come ! Just my thoughts but on weights agree rascallion will get closer and veale gets on well with him.He will more than likely retain ride on Rascallion.
