PRESS RELEASE - Update Racing Behind Closed doors
Following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s speech of last night and further relaxations announced the following is effective as of today:
• Racing Operators are now permitted to allow Owners to attend race meetings subject to the Covid lockdown regulations being strictly adhered to.
• Interprovincial travel for riders is allowed with no restrictions.
The NHA reiterates that the proven non-pharmaceutical measures of wearing of masks, hand sanitizing/washing for at least 20 seconds and social distancing of at least 1,5m apart, is critical and the Chief Compliance Officer, Mr Arnold Hyde, together with his team shall continue to ensure same is done throughout a race meeting.
Please be reminded that the wearing of masks in a public place is mandatory and is one of the best ways to prevent transmission.
As and when the President announces any further amendments, the NHA will advise accordingly.
Kind regards

Press Release from Gold Circle
Following the movement to Alert Level 3 after the Presidential Address last night and the subsequent NHA media release this morning, Gold Circle is pleased to inform owners of horses participating on race days in Kwa-Zulu Natal that they may now once again attend race meetings at Hollywoodbets Greyville and Hollywoodbets Scottsville.
As there is still a ban on spectators attending sporting events, all owners wanting to attend a race meeting will have to book into the on course restaurant facilities and will not be permitted to watch races from the grandstands.
With the current 50 person restriction on indoor gatherings, there is very limited space available, and all bookings will be done on a first come first serve basis through our Members Department –(031) 314 1630. Attendees will be required to complete a pre-screening Covid form. Social distancing and sanitisation protocols will be in place on course.
Due to the 50 person indoor limit on Restaurants, Gold Circle is unfortunately unable to provide the facility for all owners wanting to attend the Marshalls World of Sport Gold Cup race day on 31 July and priority will be given to those owners with runners in the main race and thereafter for the Grade 1 races on the day until the limit is reached.
The race meeting will be broadcast on Tellytrack, DSTV Channel 249, and via live stream on the Gold Circle You Tube channel ( www.youtube.com/user/GoldCircleRacing ) and will feature World Pool betting and a Pick 6 carryover of R5million with an estimated pool of R15million.
