18 August Kenilworth race meeting saved by Snaith racing
4 years 1 week ago
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark
Only third race meeting of August 2021. 59 runners in a makeshift card. Not what was published.
They lost one race because of Ambiorix scared away the other runners. So only 4 stood.
Most the other races(1st 4 races, and race 7) would not have stood if Snaith did keep his horses in the fields.
How is it possible to sustain racing in WC if this is the norm.
One trainer cant keep the entire region afloat.

You are correct Sly. As Dave mentioned on another thread the silence Is deafening!! This scenario coupled with the problems in Gauteng and the on going fight between SANTA and the NHA are not helping anyone. We had Mr Savage waxing lyrical about all sorts of things when it was announced that MOD had saved racing. Since then nothing. I am fully aware the buisness rescue has to follow a process but the lack of progress or at least some info regarding the plans going forward and all the other issues that need to be addressed are ignored ..or rather to be fair not ignored but just keep the general punting public certain owners and other key players in the dark. Or maybe they don't like keyboard warriors unless its them doing all the whining on there own websites.
Its a really piss poor effort at least to try and give everyone some hope or some indication of what's going to happen. It really seems again like a privileged few are going to keep everything to themselves. Same old story ...with new colors by the looks of things. Racing is crumbling in front if everyone..pools getting worse by the day .. battling to get enough runners to hold a meeting and so on and so on.
Personally I kind of wish Betfair had taken over and bought a whole new set up to our racing. Lets hope im wrong but the silence and lack of transparency is alarming

As we head to what is now the 3rd WC meeting of August most of what was relevant for the 18th applies.
Most races survived courtesy Snaith runners staying in. Races 1 2 3 and 5

Perhaps someone can provide number of horses per trainer in the WC. Should provide a clearer picture.

Estimates based on last season data.
2 years olds raced - 269 horses
3 year olds raced 526 horses
Older horses 389 horses
Trainers 22 Western Cape Trainers estimates based on last season WC runners as follows:
Snaith 210 - 250 horses
Bass 150 -180 horses
Marshall 100 -120 horses
Crawford 105 -130 horses
Nel 65 -85 horses
Kotzen 80 -100 horses
Sands,Marcus,reeves, woodruff, ennion , kannemeyer botha(???) 30 - 45 horses
Rix, stewart robinson 25-35 horses
steyn puller steyn kruyer 15 -25 horses
Wrench prestage < 10
i don't know how KZN satellite yards impacts these numbers.
