Jackpot carry-over UK.

THE Tote Jackpot is likely to reach £300,000 at Pontefract on Thursday following a luckless afternoon on Wednesday.

The defeat of 2-5 favourite Kingship Spirit at Beverley did the damage in the third leg, leaving the pool to start from £191,291 for Thursday's action.

Paul Petrie, Totepool spokesman, said: "Kingship Spirit was most people's banker so it was carnage by leg three. Everyone was out by leg four and we have a massive rollover up for grabs."

Seeing as I'm a roll, let me throw in my five cents' worth, based I hasten to add on studying the form for about five minutes.

Race 4: Vital Statistics has been running well in much more valuable races the last two times and must go in. So must Persian Sea, unplaced at Newmarket last time but winner of two in a row before that and now back racing at a lesser course. Mango Music and Misphire are the only previous course winners in the field.

Race 5: A handicap over 3400m...yippee! Stand by for carnage? Thewhirlingdervish has a great record at Ponty (four wins from nine runs) and must go in along with Moonshine Beach, a 10yo veteran with good enough form and two course wins already. Kentucky Boy has second run after a very long rest, but won over the course-and-distance in August 2007 and ran okay at Ripon after more than 11 months off.

Race 6: Quite a few first timers in this maiden, including Godolphin's Mysterious Moon, but I don't think that Robert Winston is a regular rider for the stable. A lot of these look as slow as sludge, but after two very good seconds from two runs Duncan has an obvious chance and is the nearest thing to a banker in the only Jackpot leg which is not a handicap.

Race 7: Shotley Mac has won his last two (in yielding going at Redcar) and has a good apprentice rider in Tylicki. Nothing to choose between Straight Sets and Eggigy on their meeting at Salisbury on September 4th, but Straight Sets much more lightly raced and could be a big runner. Ours was a winner two runs back on the course and has a chance along with Nesno.

Now what I know of bread-and-butter UK racing is more than slightly dangerous, but let's see what happens!

(Okay, so I'm bored right now and needed something to babble about. Sue me...)

Is what the UK refer to as a jackpot not actually a P6?That's my understanding.

I think you guys are a few legs shy.

The pontefract 'jackpot' on the UK carryover is in fact a p6 which starts in the 1st race @ 14h30 UK time from what I can ascertain.

Magic, are you referring to our local jpt I presume.

Yes sorry guys its races 1 to 6 at Ponty in the UK.
So in fact its not easy and covers the 6 races, but not in line with the jackpot we have on offer on the local tote, so don't start buying new cars, until you check the correct dividends.

Thought I would consider a small perm on the UK tote

3,4,9,11,15,19
2,4,9,12,13,16
1,3,4,6,16,17
2,3,4,5
1,2,4,5,12,14,15,16
banker 8 [duncan in the last]

it comes to 4,608 pounds at a one pound line, so think I will just have a few Rands on Duncan and wait for another carry-over today?

good punting!

Heard a whisper about Phumelela and the UK tote,so I fancy we'll be betting into their tote before long anyway Dave.Hopefully % do apply,'cos @ 14,5-1 the pound is a bit tough to compete with.

Yes JAP, my perm was R66,816, and would have been delighted with that as a payout, never mind the stake!
