A quality hallmark for a leader is vision. A vision that looks into the next generation not only into the next balance sheet or election poll. Seemingly, horseracing has had disappointing leaders in the last twenty-five or so years whose vision failed to see the events for the subsequent generation. These leaders I dare say include captains like the Oppenheimer’s, the Jaffee’s, the Jooste’s, the van Niekerk’s, et al.
