Below is the penalty for Jockey Sakayi.
Below that is few from earlier this year.
Jockey K Sakayi signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.3, in that as the rider of SCENT OF A WOMAN, he failed to ride this horse out to the end of the race, to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, thereby prejudicing his chances of obtaining fifth position. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Cape Town on 4 June 2021 into the running and riding of FATEFUL in Race 5 at Kenilworth Racecourse on 3 May 2021, Jockey Khathi was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.1. The particulars of the charge being that as the rider of FATEFUL he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures between the 300m and the finish, to ensure that his horse was given a full opportunity to obtain the best possible placing.
Jockey Khathi was legally represented at the inquiry.
Jockey Khathi pleaded not guilty to the charge, but was found guilty as charged.
The Inquiry Board, after considering all the factors stated in mitigation and aggravation, imposed a penalty of a suspension in riding in races for a period of thirty (30) days.
Jockey Khathi was given the Right of Appeal against the finding and the penalty imposed
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on Monday, 26 April 2021, Jockey Simanga Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3.
The particulars being that he failed to ride VARINA out to the end of the race and thereby prejudiced his chances of obtaining 4th position in Race 5 at Turffontein Racecourse on 3 April 2021.
Jockey Khumalo pleaded not guilty to the charge, but was found guilty as charged.
After considering the mitigating factors presented, a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of ten (10) days was imposed.
Jockey Khumalo has the Right of Appeal against the finding and the penalty imposed.
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry held in Port Elizabeth on 12 January 2021, Jockey Xolane Ndlovu was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3. The particulars being that he failed to ride BROADSIDE out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in Race 5 run at Fairview Racecourse on 1 January 2021, thus prejudicing his chances of obtaining 1st place.
Jockey Ndlovu pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Inquiry Board found Jockey Ndlovu guilty as charged and imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of forty-five (45) days.
Jockey Ndlovu has the Right of Appeal against the finding and the penalty imposed.
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on Tuesday, 20 October 2020, Jockey Chase Maujean was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.2.
The particulars being in that during the running of Race 1 at Turffontein Racecourse on 26 September 2020, whilst riding the horse PUERTO MANZANO (ARG):
He changed his crop into his left hand at about the 150m and struck PUERTO MANZANO (ARG) to which this gelding clearly responded. He then changed his crop back into his right hand, for no apparent reason and this resulted in a pause in his riding of the gelding, and
Thereafter the vigour with which Jockey Maujean rode PUERTO MANZANO (ARG) up until about the 75m, after this gelding had responded to the use of the crop in his left hand, (as stated above), was not to the standard expected of a competent and professional Jockey.
Jockey Maujean pleaded not guilty to the charge, but was found guilty of the charge.
The Inquiry Board, after hearing all the evidence in mitigation put forward in this matter and taking Jockey Maujean’s record into account, unanimously ruled that:
Jockey Maujean be fined the sum of R60 000 (sixty thousand rand) of which R30 000 (thirty thousand rand) is suspended for a period of 12 months, provided that Jockey Maujean is not found guilty of a contravention of this rule during that 12-month period.
Jockey Maujean has the Right of Appeal against both the finding and penalty imposed.
