SA Racing 40 minute intervals for 7 horse fields

It makes watching SA racing even more tiresome.

Good evening all

I was always a greyhound man, short intervals, always on time, no delays including weather.

So as far as horse racing: considering nobody is at track 30 mins between races is a great idea.

I have asked the question many times.
Why do we go to the start 20 mins before the off and walk around and around at start until a shoe falls of or a saddle slips ......

In the UK they go to start go behind and then they are OFF.......

To make sure that the fix is in and ready to go

However why do SA horses go to start earlier ?

Dave I remember being told that the majority of money is placed after the horses have been seen to canter down. Ours leave the ring 10 minutes before start time. Time to check saddles and shoes etc once they get there.
