Are 5 and 6 year old maidens good for racing

I doubt there is a shortage of young ( fairly affordable) horses available at different times of the year. HIT' etc.
Do these maidens not sour the small owners from racing.
It is highly unlikely they are going to win any time soon.
So why are the owners keeping them in training?

IF they are paying their way with place money....by all means let them carry on racing, if the owner sees fit.
On the other hand horses like Exultant ( no disrespect to owner ) but 30 runs ... 0 wins... what stakes has he earned last 2 years m ??  can someone tel me !
On the other hand horses like OCEAN'S PRIDE 55 runs 7 y.o. NUMEROUS PLACES and sort of paying his way.....continues to run.....may never ever win... but NOT costing the owner an arm and a leg every month
BUT in the end , each owner to their own.. I guess

OCEAN'S PRIDE RAN today...... another place - 2nd.
stakes earned so far R 202,825
should she WIN one day............ could take her earnings up to R 250,000
probably one of the best MAIDENS to own in the country right now

Greyville Race 4 27 October 2021
Everything that is wrong with KZN racing in the winners box.
if the best u have is a MR56 -- 5 year old maiden winning races.!!!!!
The horses that ran behind this one. Should already start looking for riding schools, Polo fields and jumping circuits as possible career paths,

Re: Are 5 and 6 year old maidens good for racing
1 month 1 week ago24 horses. Some will race next few weeks
Green chance of winning next start
Yellow may yet win a race
Brown unlikely but could still earn a few stake cheques
Red they are not for racing. They need a riding school to love them
