LATEST PRESS RELEASE KENILWORTH!
16 years 8 months ago
Gold Circle advises that, due to the excessive rainfall experienced in the Western Cape over the past 48 hours, the racemeeting scheduled to take place at Kenilworth Racecourse on Saturday, 20 September 2008, has been postponed to Sunday, 21 September 2008, subject to the track being declared safe for racing.
Racing Director Graeme Hawkins indicated that while the penetrometer reading was around 55 on Friday morning, there was every chance of the going improving significantly, based on the current weather forecast. Further track readings will be taken late on Saturday afternoon.
While the policy of the National Fixtures Committee does not generally allow for postponements, the request to move to Sunday was sanctioned in recognition of the fact that this meeting has two feature races on the card; that this is the final meeting at Kenilworth until Sunday 2 November, and that the Western Cape has already lost a number of racemeetings in recent weeks.
Revised race times to be advised.
