Re: Re:Have you heard the rumours?
3 years 10 months agoDurbs you clearly have no clue,Sean has never bought expensive horses even when he had CVN behind him,he had a poor last season by his own high standards and still finished 3rd on the national trainers log,he has had more group winners than what some trainers have in their lifetime.
Did Dennis Drier collapse when the Oppenheimer's left him years ago?
Did Mike De Kock collapse when the Oppenheimer's left him years ago?
Did Azzie collapse when Van Vuuren got found out?
Did the Snaith's collapse when Sabine Platner left them years ago?
There are many more examples that I can share with you but more importantly I challenge you to take out your trainers license and let's see how you fare training race horses.
Wake up Durbs your coffee is getting cold.
OK Methinks.
I doubt he will collapse but when your stable loses the biggest owner in SA,not last year though, you definitely going to feel it.
The examples you put up just show that.
MDK is he the force he once was?
Nowhere near,he was even killing Dubai.
Azzie and Drier used to be consistent top 10 trainers yearly.
Don't think they have hit the top 20 the last 3 or 4 years and Drier had this terribly lean spell lately and he put it down to not having the horses.
Snaith different story though he just keeps getting the best horses in the Cape.
So in my opinion, even though I'm not a trainer,Tarry will feel the lose of CVN immensely.
We all know he is a top trainer but without the horses and decent money behind you most trainers will battle.I'm sure there are plenty top trainers here who can't really show their skills because they have bad horses and no one backing them with better bred horses.
SA horse racing is in a difficult stage and getting new owners in these trying times will be hard.
Maybe he has made enough money to buy his own horses but it will be much more difficult now to be top trainer without CVN behind him.
Making the top 5 this year will be a great feat.

I don't see why Tarry would not pick up sticks and head for another country. Most countries would take him in a heart beat.
i doubt MDK will stay to much longer. Why would they???
COVID probably holding up quite a few peoples plans to flee south Africa.

Durbs you have a valid point.
When one has all their eggs in one basket.........what happens?
Charles Laird and Joey Ramsden
come to mind.

I helped Hollywood through the years to buy these horses. One day when they take over South-Africa, I can say that I also played my part…………….

HW also appear to have a good return rate on the horses they purchase .

We were at the Ali farewell yesterday in the clubhouse at Randjies.
It was sad in a way but joyous to consider his future.
Niko from tellytrack was there to give him a good send off with some excellent TV footage of some of his old commentaries.
We all wish Ali the best for this massive challenge and opportunity.
Sure he will continue the legacy of great SA commentators.
