TURFFONTEIN INSIDE THURSDAY NOVEMBER 11 FORMGUIDES
by David Thiselton
Race 1:
Preview: MASAAKEN (5) is on the up and represents a yard in flying form so she might be able to follow up on her last win over 2200m despite being 1.5kg under sufferance with the best weighted pair. WESTERN DANCE (9) is joint best in at the weights and is well drawn and she stays this trip so should be right there. LIVERPOOL LEGEND (7) is the joint best-weighted but this will only be her second attempt at a staying trip although she did beat Kool Baikal by three lengths when they met over 2400m and face each other on exactly the same weight terms. ROYAL MAZARIN (2) won well last time and over an ideal trip from pole position he could be involved despite being 3.5kg under sufferance with the best weighted. KOOL BAIKAL (4) was beaten just 2,60 lengths into second last time over 2200m and the winner Shangani has won another two races since. (David Thiselton 5-9-2-7-4)
Race 2:
Preview: CORVETTE CAPTAIN (2) is talented and is capable of running on strongly from behind so his draw ten is not insurmountable and as a Dynasty half-brother to Grade 1 SA Classic and Grade 1 Daily News 2000 winner French Navy he should enjoy the step up in trip. CODE ZERO (3) won in impressive style in the maidens over 1600m and looks capable of rising above an 80 rating but he does have a tricky draw. ESCAPE ARTIST (8 ) has scope for improvement and on pedigree will enjoy the step up in trip so is a contender off a lowly 73 merit rating. (David Thiselton 2-3-8 )
Race 3:
Preview: CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT (6) won cosily last time over 1400m down the straight and if the 2.5kg apprentice claim on Whorly Whorly from that race is included he is half-a-kilogram better off with him despite beating him by 0,25 lengths and he has a much better draw than the latter. KAYLA'S CHAMP (8 ) is the best weighted runner and is well drawn over an ideal trip and she is 4kg better off with Captain Hindsight for four length beating so should be thereabouts. WHORLY WHORLY (1) has his third run after a layoff over a suitable trip and if the apprentice claim from his last race is ignored he is 2kg better off with Captain Hindsight for a 0,25 length beating and he has in form Lerena up so he should make a bold bid but does have a tricky draw. SOUND OF SUMMER (5) is talented but has twice failed over 1800m so should enjoy this step down in trip. APPROACH CONTROL (3) has a good record over this course and distance and can't be ignored. INDLAMU (4) has a second and a third in two attempts at this trip and can't be ignored either. (David Thiselton 6-8-1-5-3-4)
Race 4:
Preview: MOONSHINGTHROUGH (8 ) cruised in on debut and he is only 2.5kg under sufferance at the weights with the best weighted Captain Lannister and could still be anything although his wide draw is a concern. TEAM GOLD (3) should appreciate the step back down in trip and is again better drawn than Sheldon. SHELDON (4) was beaten a head by Team Gold over this trip in his penultimate start and followed up with a fine effort over 1000m but he has a tricky draw. CAPTAIN LANNISTER (2) finished fourth in the Grade 1 Gold Medallion but has not raced for six months. RUN APRIL RUN (7) has a good draw and is only 4kg under sufferance with the best weighted. (David Thiselton 8-3-2)
Race 5:
Preview: OCEAN WARRIOR (2) won easily on his Highveld debut over this trip and can follow up despite having to make his handicap debut off a 92 merit rating. BUREAU DES LEGENDE (4) has the widest draw of all but looks to be talented and can rise above an 86 merit rating after beating the boys cosily last time. ABOUT TO STORM (6) stayed on well last time over 1200m and this Gimmethegreenlight half-brother to the talented Red Chesnut Road should enjoy the step up in trip and should enjoy this trip. (David Thiselton 2-4-6)
Race 6:
Preview: LION OF THE DESERT (1) has a wide draw but is talented and can make it three wins on the trot over a suitable trip. BEY SUYAY (3) brings consistent form from the Cape and often runners from that strong centre prove to have suppressed merit ratings and this is a suitable trip although he does return from a two-and-a-half month layoff. BLOOMINGTON'S (9) maiden win has worked out well and he should relish the step up in trip on pedigree. (David Thiselton 1-3-9)
Race 7:
VAL D'ORCIA (5) is unbeaten and highly regarded and from a good draw over a suitable trip he can make it four on the trot over a trip he should easily get being by Vercingetorix out of a Spectrum mare who won up to 2000m. ESKIMO PIE (8 ) has a tricky draw but has fine recent form and is distance suited so might continue on an upward curve. BACK TO BLACK (6) loves this course and distance and this ultra consistent sort has a fair draw under Lerena. BALLON D'OR (4) has his first run for a new yard but is drawn in pole at a course he enjoys although the trip might just stretch him. STORMY WINTER (1) enjoys this distance down the straight but as a resolute front-runner he could be dangerous if getting to the front easily from a wide draw. (David Thiselton 5-8-6-4-1)
Race 8:
Preview: IRISH RAIN (8 ) has good recent form and is only 2kg under sufferance with he best weighted runners, so has a good chance for an in form yard if able to overcome a high draw. KINGS CUP (3) is 2.5kg under sufferance with the best weighted and has his first good raw for a while over an ideal trip with Lerena up. FLYING FIRST CLASS (4) returns to her old yard and runs over her favourite trip from a good draw and is the joint-best weighted runner. CHASING MAVERICKS (7) had some fair Cape Town form and should have come on from his Highveld debut. GO DREAM MACHINE (12) is better than her last run and is joint best in at the weights and should enjoy the step down in trip. ANCIENT ROME (5) is inconsistent but is capable of popping up. (David Thiselton 8-3-4-7-12-5)

The guys that had the inside info got on. The common man at the Tote sometimes referred to as the "mug punter' by some people gets carrots. Because they backed the favourite believing it's the best horse in that stable but the stable companion wins at long odds.
This a way to grow racing in SA.

This seems to be the problem with racing, don't care about the common man at the Tote that pays their employees salaries, actually foots the bill for racing industry. But punter is treated like sh!t.

Tero if racing in SA had to cease who would be the biggest losers?
The punter? No ways, much better options out there to have a punt on horses.
The owner? No chance in hell, they would have so much extra money in their pocket they could have a holiday overseas twice a year.
Everyone for themselves but I know what I would choose between the thrill of having a winner or seeing a bit of world.
The trainer or jockey, now what employment would they find outside horse racing? Most live for their horses so all their efforts and knowledge is horses.
They got to keep the punter happy.A happy punter would make things so much better for everyone involved.
