This is one of the more open looking Guineas that we have seen in recent years.
Trip of Fortune tops the boards on the strength of his winning streak, good run against older horses, and a good victory in the Classic. The form of the Classic is a bit puzzling, as Pomp and Power was well back there, yet ran a much improved race to win the Concorde, but impressive finisher Xavion subsequently flopped in the Concorde.
Good Traveller looks the value at 7/1 as he had to give 2kg in the Concorde, and at levels with a better draw, could turn the tables on Pomp and Power.
Waterberry Lane has the highest MR earned against older horses, and must be a big contender. Similarly with Cosmic Highway, and these two give Kannemeyer a very strong hand. The jockey arrangements don’t give us any clue as to the stable elect as De Melo must ride the Khaya Stables horse.
Zapatillas has very solid form and must be respected despite the draw. Double Superlative and Pacaya seem to have plenty scope for further improvement, and neither of those would be a huge surprise. Universal made a big impression when winning his maiden, and has bounced back from a poor effort in the Classic where he may have needed the run. There are a few others in the bottom half of the betting board which also look unexposed and capable of a surprise.
Marigold Hotel missed the Fillies Guineas and is a very interesting runner. Desert Miracle was far too strong for the boys in the Graham Beck, but I think that the Cape colts are stronger. However, she gets a good draw and on the official ratings comes in well weighted with the allowance.
This could be a rough race with a full field and quite a few of the top contenders drawn wide, not to mention a few jockeys that have gotten into trouble for not keeping their mounts on a straight course in the drive to the line.

It certainly looks a difficult competitive field and the lads are on Good Traveller at 12/1 ew

However I get the impression that the match race at Turffontien between Malmoos and WOA will be a bigger talking point πŸ‘‰ and draw more attention.

Sorry to detract from Cape thread but as usual WSB out with the early betting and I agree

9/10 WOA
5/2 Malmoos

What do you think πŸ€”

Surely lightning can't strike twice, last year Russian Rock (100/1 - Grant Behr), i will become a believer immediately after the race, no jokes, name the the church, I'm there.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
