4RACING MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: Turffontein race meeting postponed DATE: Monday 27 December 2021
The race meeting scheduled for Turffontein today, Monday 27 December, has been postponed to Tuesday evening 28 December.
A total of 8mm of rain has been recorded so far this morning.
The main concern, however, is that significant rain is forecast for the rest of the day, with local flood warnings also issued. If this is accurate, it would make it extremely unlikely that the race meeting could take place today.
The best chance of racing is to delay the meeting to Tuesday evening instead as the forecast for Tuesday is sunny and hot.

The new race times are as follows:

Race 1: 15:45
Race 2: 16:20
Race 3: 16:55
Race 4: 17:30
Race 5: 18:05
Race 6: 18:35
Race 7: 19:05
Race 8: 19:40

The race order is unchanged

Probably why he chose Turffies above Greyville, smart card of rides.

Good indicator for punters :-)

Looks a much more punter-friendly card than Greyville

R1: Could be a tricky start to the BP; Sing Girl Sing should really win this on previous form; but she did not run too well on her first run after a break; the rest look moderate, so if there is a surprise it could come in the form of the lightly raced Northern Glow and even Oceans Pride in her 62nd start could add to the R227k stakes she has earned in the Maidens

R2: Interesting race; I think it may come down to jockeyship and I think Bling will try to get first run on the odds-on shot; there is also an interesting formline - in the Daily News there was only 2 lengths or so between Flying Carpet and Infinite Wonder - and IW is 4 kgs better off with FC this time - so I'd not jump at the 8/10 on offer

R3: On exposed from, Insatiable looks impossible to oppose - but she needs to behave - last time she fell over in the starting gates - if she starts, she wins; some money around for the Peter first-timer, but imo she would need to be quite good to beat Insatiable; Iphiko was supported in the market on her debut, but she was found to be not striding out, so who knows, she could surprise

R4: Chase Your Dreams was backed as if the result was known on his debut, but he hung and was comfortably beaten - on that support he could be worth another chance; Sonnenstrahl started favorite in both his runs, so also not too sure how good he is (or is not); Dronfield does not boast the greatest from, but should be thereabouts; while Forever Free is a 4yr-old gelding by Trippi who also found betting support when running a dismal race in his debut

R5: Red Saxon on ratings should prove hard to beat - very good run in the Dingaans where he had some capable sorts behind him; Captain Lannister tries a little further but looks the only danger with Lemon Delight

R6: Mike's Chick boasts some strong form and could also prove hard to beat; Sister Light could still improve and should be a danger with Hollywoodbound who seems best over 1400

R7: Very open; Alesian Chief won the Merchants, but I think he has a tougher task here at the weights,, having to give Bard of Avon 4 kgs; others with chances here are Winter Stories (looks at best over 1000), Invidia, Mind Reader and Kwite a Trip

R8: I'm giving Motor City Hitman another chance - failed by a shorthead in his penultimate and then had excuses in his next start in a Work-Riders race; Abayaan looks one-paced, so the biggest danger imo comes in the form of Southern Blaze, who made an encouraging debut - of the rest only Chasing Cheetahs make some appeal

Enjoy B)
