I do watch greyhounds on Sky 1 & 2 daily for fun without placing any bet. Seems the dog that break early goes on to win. So form doesn't really count much than early speed. On very rare occasions do sweepers win. Moreover they run at same pace from start to finish, there are certain tracks like Mandurah where they show each greyhound's speed and i have observed they run at same pace averaging 63km/hr from gate to wire.

Looking at that picture, two things.

Do the dogs wear something over their mouths?
Do they hate that electrical rabbit to the core of their being? They look really angry while running.

They wear muzzles and want to catch the hare.

They are trained to chase the rabbit from early age.

It's similar to thoroughbreds without a jockey and whip
