Pick 3 introduced

As per RA website news, and Phumelela news. (Pity they wont share the news re Turfontein lights, Randjesfontein application, Vaal track changes etc) :
Pick 3 launches Monday 29 September
TAB is proud to announce the launch of an exciting new bet - the Pick 3,
which will be available on all race meetings from Monday 29 September.
The Pick 3 is similar in principle to the Pick 6 and Jackpot, but with
some important differences. For starters the Pick 3 can be played on any
three consecutive races at any race meeting (South African and
international) so there will seven Pick 3 pools on a nine-race card: Races
1-2-3; 2-3-4; 3-4-5; 4-5-6; 5-6-7; 6-7-8; 7-8-9.
As with the Pick 6 and Jackpot, the unit of betting will be R1 with a
minimum bet of R6. So if you take a permutation with three selections in
each of the three legs the cost will be R27 (3x3x3=27 combinations @ R1
per combination = R27).
Fractional betting will not be available with the Pick 3. Consequently,
there is no need to mark "AMOUNT SPENT" on the TAB betting form ? you will automatically be given the bet once at a cost of R1 per combination.
Only mark AMOUNT SPENT if you want to play the bet more than once. In the example of a Pick 3 permutation with three selections in each leg at a cost of R27, mark R54 in the AMOUNT SPENT if you want the bet twice, R81 for three times, etc. Do not mark TIMES TAKEN ? the system will reject the bet.
Couplings and the first-timer rule will NOT apply to the Pick 3 as in the
case of the Pick 6 and Jackpot on SA races.
So in the case of two of more runners from the same stable, each runner must be treated on its merits.
The first-timer and tote couplings rules do not exist internationally and
were excluded from the Pick 3 in order to be able to offer the bet to the
many countries who bet into South African TAB pools. In the event of a
selection in the Pick 3 being scratched, the tote favourite will replace
it.
"We are excited about the launch of the Pick 3 which should enhance
everybody's enjoyment of betting on horseracing, as well as offering more
chances to win some sizeable payouts at any race meeting," said Robert
Garner, Phumelela's General Manager Marketing & Communications.
The Pick 3 will not be available initially in the Northern Cape and only
at selected TABs in the Free State and North West. The North West TABs
able to process the bet from 29 September are Mabopane, Morula,
Rustenburg, Taxi Rank and Temba.
Racegoers should note that the bet can only be taken at selected tote windows at Turffontein and Vaal racecourses, while the bet will not be available initially at Flamingo Park in Kimberley. - TAB
Key elements with the Pick 3:
* Available on any 3 consecutive races
* R1 unit - R6 minimum bet
* No fractional betting
* Only utilise MARK AMOUNT SPENT section on TAB betting form if you wish to play the bet twice, three times, four times etc (do not mark TIMES TAKEN - bet will be rejected)
* Couplings & first-timer rules do not apply

A question guys, do you have a 'daily dbl' that includes the 1st and last race?
If not, why not try it = encourages people to be at track from the 1st to last race.
Just a thought - cheers, Jim.

No, we don't have a daily double. We have doubles running on every two consecutive races, ie. races 1 & 2, 2 & 3, 3 & 4 etc.

I have always liked the pick 3; in the USA, that is.
Banker * two horses * three horses = R6
Not bad value, especially I would daresay in the UK!
