Weekend racing and logic?
3 years 2 months ago - 3 years 2 months ago
Good morning all as we enter a busy racing weekend and the Dubai World Cup meeting.
I have mentioned the word Logic in my heading, have you listened to the Logical Song from Supertramp, a really good band in their time.
Some things at the moment are not logical.
Masks ......๐ท
The 4Racing approach since Tellytrack? Enough has been said.๐ช
The war in Ukraine is mind blowing.๐บ๐ฆ๐
However let me focus on racing and notice that WSB were again pricing up early doors for most of the meetings.
Dubai:
First race on Saturday is the Godolphin Mile where Al Nefud must go close.
Second is the Gold Cup and the meetings banker in the shape of MANOBO for the powerful Appleby/Buick combination.
The 3rd is the Sprint and again the above combination can be back in the winners box with Man of Promise.
The 4th is a very open Derby where you need a few for the exotics.
The 5th is the Golden Shaheen and sure our man Shaw has a sure thing for us ?
The Turf race is next and did have an open appearance but the top man Ali has give me some insight from the track and the word is out for PANTHALASSA from the strong Japanese string.
Sheema Classic can again go to William Buick but another open event.
The big one is the DWC and I have to stick with the even money America superstar and โlife will be Goodโ for the punters when the front running beast, hits the winning line.
Lincoln:
Itโs also the start of the Flat season in the UK .
The Lincoln handicap it is always difficult to find the winner at the Doncaster track but itโs wonderful to see the Majmu baby from Frankel topping the boards.
MUJTABA certainly has the form at around 4/1 maybe worth a bash.
Local:
On the local front we do have racing from Turffontein on Saturday but the focus will be on next week where we have the Derby and Safe Passage can get revenge. The Oaks where Rain in Holland is 3/10 and I have gone against my normal punting strategy and taken โno triple tiara winnerโ at 2/1 and would be delighted for Candice if she could help me out.
I get the impression that the both Classics will be overshadowed by Kommetdieding showing up for the Horse Chestnut.
Footnote:
I will be released from baby sitting the grandkids and the new puppy after a rather busy week. My kids are scheduled to come back from walking with animals in the Kruger Park on Saturday ๐ค
So itโs Greyville on Sunday for me (tips required) before we make the trip back to Pretoria next week.
Good Punting and God bless the people of Ukraine ๐บ๐ฆ ๐

Also coming here with impressive form is the Yoshito Yahagi-trained Panthalassa, who warmed up for this with a win in the G2 Nakayama Kinen a month ago, giving him a fitness edge over some of his rivals

The Japanese trained runners have had a very good Dubai this season. I think that the Americans will do well again on the dirt track. Only 10 runners in the WC race now

I also noticed that there is a horse running tonight named GREAT SCOT , not to be mistaken for our GREAT SCOTT unless Candice has gone to visit Ali ๐
