Here's an idea (although I'm sure it will go against some rule/s).
Imagine a tote pool that opens 2-3 months in advance. Multiples can be onto July runners for a MEGA win and place pool on the day!! All stakes on runners that don't make the final field are then put into the Pick 6, Jackpot and PA carryovers on the day! KA-CHING!!!
I have stated something similar to this.
In America they have nearly five pools to wager before the Kentucky Derby. Each pool closes in a different month. The last pool is this weekend. Its basically an ante-post bet but with the Tote Odds/Pari Mutuel betting. One runner, which is normally number 24, is any "other runner". You can even take Exacta's.
