Imo JP’s riding, even if he move earlier, it would not have resulted in his mount finishing ahead of the winner. He may have finished closer to the winner.
Greg Cheyne on the other hand cost his mount and deprived it of picking up the winning cheque.
Have a close look at the Jackpot and Pick 6 tickets going into this race and the clues are there whether this was done on purpose or not!

D) An inquiry will be held into Jockey G Cheyne’s riding of MARSH MARIGOLD in the latter stages.

Do these Jockeys and trainers not realise that their antics are driving punters away from the sport.
Be it rides, running unfit horses, horses not running on their merit,it drives punters onto other betting opportunities.
I can remember in the 2010s when the forum would have 5,6,7 pages of punters discussing the days racing, admittedly 2 pages was me winding up CnC.
No punters,no bookies putting in reasonable prize money.Mediocre racing, yards closing and jockeys feeling pinch.

Can I add,it’s not all. Craig Eudey and Zietsman have always tried to guide punters.👏

On the slow motion, last 30m or so,check Greg Cheyne's right hand, pushing or pulling?
That's a very dodgy ride.

IMHO he thought he had it in the bag and didn't realize the other horse would be flying up. Nothing sinister, just bad judgement.

You probably right Craig but that right hand does come back a bit too far for comfort.
Check how he was riding before and then check how far his elbow comes back compared to where it was before.
He thought he had it won and didn't want to win by too far.

You can see the horse neck pulled back but that's racing as any other sport. First comes the chest then the stomach. Luckily the horse stood it's ground and we still have proof in the footage.

Bad judgement for sure.Don’t think it was cheating.
Every time he gets a bit of stick, next meeting he usually has a good day.

I think that Marco wanted the win more. It was a top ride by Marco.
Cheyne is a "thinking" jockey. Let us cut him some slack. He is a gifted jockey and a pleasure to watch at times!
