Pomp And Power Can Give Fourie Another Grade 1

The Grade 1 Daily News 2000 is traditionally one of the best pointers to the Hollywoodbets Durban July and a small but quality field of nine runners face the starter on Saturday at Hollywoodbets Greyvillle.

Pomp And Power jumps from pole position which will suit his handy to front-running style.
He loves to gallop and has a big engine so it will be no surprise to see him leading.
His jockey Richard Fourie has a 35% strike rate in Grade 1s this season and is sure to give him every chance.

Senso Unico is a big rangy type who caught the eye when running on in his last two starts in the Grade 1 Jonsson Workwear Cape Derby and the Grade 2 World Sports Betting Guineas. This big, rangy type has his second run after gelding and will have come on from his last start. He has a good draw and can book his place in the Hollywoodbets Durban July.

Waterberry Lane has class and enjoys this track and considering he was plugging on in the World Sports Betting Guineas last time he might prove capable of seeing out this trip in his third run after a layoff. He has a good turn of foot and will likely be dropped out from a wide draw.

Safe Passage missed the SA Derby when found to have a temperature. Before that he had stayed on well to win the Grade 2 Word Sports Betting Gauteng Guineas and finish second in the Grade 1 WSB SA Classic. He will have improved being by Silvano and is held in high regard so can go close if finding cover under Muzi Yeni.

Red Saxon stayed on well to win the SA Classic before failing in the SA Derby and if he gets the run of the race like he did in the SA Classic he can stay on again and go close.

Aragosta ran on well to win the SA Derby having been beaten by Red Saxon, Safe Passage and Super Excited in the SA Classic. If finding cover after likely being dropped out from draw seven he can make a bold bid.

Super Excited plugged on in the SA Classic for a 4,50 length fourth and has his third KZN run having finished unplaced in both the Byerley Turk over 1400m (won by Waterberry Lane) and World Sport Betting Guineas.

Hasta Manana was a well beaten second in the Byerly Turk but was unplaced in the SA Classic and WSB Guineas and will need to improve. He has to prove he stays this trip too.

Beyondtheboundary has a tough task at the weights but is scopey and can improve in this step up in trip.
They are selected in the order mentioned.

"Pomp And Power jumps from pole position which will suit his handy to front-running style."

I thought they wanted to switch him off and have him run on???
