TURFFONTEIN INSIDE SUNDAY MAY 29 FORMGUIDES, SELECTIONS, PERMUTATIONS
by David Thiselton
R1
Preview: UNCLE TICKY BIRD (11) is by Vercingetorix out of a Thunder Gulch mare who has produced two winners from three runners. THEWOLFOFWOLSELEY (9) is by Elusive Fort and is a half-brother to the useful Freed From Desire. ACORN (1) went close on debut and the form has been franked but he has to overcome a wide draw. (David Thiselton 11-9-1)
R2
Preview: MIGHTY GODDESS (9) made a good debut in a strong field and can go close if ivercoming a tricky draw. MISTY CLIFFS (10) ran a good third last time and the form has been franked although she does have a tricky draw. A COLOURFUL PAST (1) has the form to close although she also has a tough draw. BACK TO THER FUTURE (2) is by Erupt out of a Grade 3-placd half-sister to the SA Oaks winner Idle Fancy. GIMME A SHOT (5) is by Gimmethegreenlight out of a once-winning Rakeen mare who has produced three winnwers from four runners. (David Thiselton 9-10-1-2-5)
R3
Preview: WALALA MASALA has a good opportunity here. JOYOUS JUBILEE is an Australian-bred by Caravaggio who is out of an own sister to Equus champion sprinter Alboran Sea. NORTHERN TUNE could place if repeating his last start although he did start at 100/1 in that race. (David Thiselton 7-8-3)
R4
Preview: CLAP OF THUINDER (1) had some fair form over this trip in Cape Town and does not have a lot to beat from a middle draw. BRENDAN JAMES (2) disappointed last time in very soft ground and on pedigree should relish this step up in trip. ROCK FALL (9), who is only a two-year-old, ran a fair race over 1400m last time and the form has been franked. (David Thiselton 1-2-9)
R5
Preview: LA LUVIA (3) has been disappointing but has shown signs of a form return in last two and from pole position could go close here especially considering small fields usually suit front runners who find it easier to dictate. JUN DEUX TROIS (4) has plenty of ability and won the last time she ran over this trip. SISTER LIGHT (6) is well drawn and with a feather weight could go close. (David Thiselton 3-4-6)
R6
Preview: DEFENDER OF RIGHTS (5) is not a straight forward sort and is certainly poetentially better than a 76 merit rating so from a plum draw over a suitabloe trip he can be given another chance with super sub Raymond Danielson aboard. CODE ZERO (4) has always had ability and bounced back last time so she might have turned the corner and can be followed over middle distances although she does have a tough draw comapred to pole position last time. DARK TRAVEL (8 ) went close in her only try at this trip last year September and is only two points higher at the moment and is drawn in pole. (David Thiselton 5-4-8 )
R7
Preview: FAST LOVE (5) disappointed in his third start on the Highveld last time but now has pole position over a step up in trip he will appreciate and he should appreciate faster ground too. TEAM GOLD (1) won well last time but has a tough task at the weights of beating Fast Love on the ground of their last mkeeting over this trip. FLASHY APACHE (2) will find this a touch sharp but has some class and can be involved. (David Thiselton 5-1-2)
R8
Preview: CARL VINSON (7) won his maiden over 1600m imnpressively and off a 77 meit rating can progress further so looks the one to beat from a plum draw over a slight drop in trip. HOTCHIWITCHI (2) is talented and looks capable of rising above a 79 rating and being by Twice Over might have benefited from a layoff. PICTURE PERFECT (5) is held in high regard and can still progress off a 79 rating. IJP TWO THOUSAND (3) is on the up and coming off three recent wins can make a bold bid off an 82 rating but a wide draw is against him. MASTER OF LAW (8 ) has a wide draw but has the form to go close. (David Thiselton 7-2-5-3-8 )
