Seems that Sovereign Spirit may be taken out of the July - was on the 'next best' list - but not running in the Jubilee nor the Cup Trial
Perfect Witness off that weight may an interesting runner in the Jubilee

Theoretical question.
If airways law wins cup trial, and gets a speculative preferential ‘consideration’ as per the terms...
What are the chances of making the field? I understand merit rating is low in comparison, but based on previous years inclusions.. and a high profile owner?
Could be supplemented before Tuesday.

Hi
The same question i asked a few weeks back, about Airways Law and Naval Guard.
Naval Guard taking the Jubilee route.
If Naval Guard and Airways Law were to win and win easily can they sneak in?

Lots of food for thought ...... I can't see Airways Law securing an entry into the July - winning the Cup Trial is very unlikely imo - firstly his wins have come on the Poly and also he is around 5kgs out at the weights - so it will take a big improvement to even place; should he somehow manage to win this, he would get a preferential ticket, but would then of course need to be supplemented (as would the case be for Silver Darling - who has an automatic entry by having won the Woolavington)
As far as Naval Guard goes (who somehow is in the A/P betting at 25s  ), I think he has even less chance than Airways Law to make the July field; he is also way out at the weights and the Jubilee does not give the winner even preferential consideration - so he would have to win by 5 lengths or more easing up - can't see that happening.
An interesting omission from both the Cup Trial and Jubilee, is Flying Carpet; he does hold a preferential entry by having won the Summer Cup (beating one of the favorites for the July Sparkling Water by 4,5 lengths at level weights); I would have thought he'd be given a prep run in one of those races - so we don't know if the trainer has found another race somewhere, or what the story is
Another runner on the cusp of getting into the July, is Russian Rock - he runs in the Challenge and a good showing could move him up the Log - he did finish just behind Second Base (but beat Flying Carpet by around a length) in the Daily News last year - and all 3 should be very competitive at the July weights with runners like Linebacker and Kommetdieding - I just think the 2200 will be a stretch for RR - still maybe if one can get 50s or better before Saturday, he could be worth a few shekels

@ Frodo read on Sportingpost that Russian Rock comes from the same lineage on the dam side of the Epsom Oaks winner Tuesday.
"Currently roaming the Ceres stud’s paddocks is English-bred mare Elisium. The daughter of Proclamation never raced, but is a half-sister to Hoity Toity, who features as the grandam of the latest Oaks winner, Tuesday"
