Obvious that Winter Smoke wasn't right today.
7-10 out to 5-2 and ran second last.
Bookies knew, surely the trainer must have known too and the horse should have been scratched.
They musn't come with the excuse that something went wrong in running as that drift proved the horse had something wrong,or just poorly turned out today unfit, before the race even started.

There we go,not striding out right hind.
Amazing the bookies knew yet the trainer and the jockey couldn't spot it before the race.
This makes the game look so crooked.

I am on course and Winter Smoke was first out into the parade ring and did not look good at all. Looked bereft or energy, walked short and coast was not shiny. I had every intention to back her but based on the visuals up close, I changed to Aunty Lizzie.

The horse really did not look well today.

Surely you don't think they paid to travel the horse all the way from Johannesburg to here and then back to con the punters??? Add into the the cost of the grooms, trainer etc coming down and going back as well?? Could have just done that in Johannesburg and saved all the cost if that was their thinking which I doubt! :S

That's maybe why they raced it even though it wasn't 100% cause it cost a lot to travel.
It obviously didn't travel well as seen by the alarming drift.
What did the bookies known about it Craig?
They not in the game to give money away.
That horse should never have run as now it's injured.

No trainer worth anything will race a lame horse. The jockey would have told the vet and it would have been checked at the start. The vets also watch the horses go to the start. Obviously injured in the race. Has no horse ever drifted and still won?
