KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To take overall responsibility for all 4Racing commercial revenue and marketing operations
To maximise all commercial and marketing opportunities to drive revenue growth in line with budgets
To develop the 4Racing commercial strategy in line with the new 2022+ corporate plan, integration the following key components:
Develop Domestic and International media & betting rights strategy and go to market approach to create the full demand across Pay, FTA, OTT & Streaming operators, including aggregators
Broaden the appeal of racing, by actively opening up the African market and lowering barrier to entry
Develop the 4Racing direct to consumer strategy through data focused OTT and Digital platforms
Create world class tiered partnership structure across 4Racing events
Take the lead role with our external sponsorship function in identifying and developing relationships with potential sponsors, proactively lead on contract negotiations and maintain strong and effective relationships with existing sponsors
Develop 4Racing data first membership strategy through major event ticketing & hospitality with a major focus on targeting younger demographics and families
Create a domestic and international event strategy to maximise the reach and
revenue for 4Racing

Identify new commercial opportunities and provide creativity and innovation to
continue to grow and develop 4Racing revenues in line with the commercial strategy

Drive marketing and brand activities that generate increased value whilst ensuring alignment with company vision and strategy. As strategic changes and opportunities evolve, ensure consistent market execution is developed and maintained
Provide the organisation with business strategy in the areas of digital marketing (Performance & CRM), customer focused strategy (segmentation, acquisition, and retention), fan engagement, Ecommerce, digital technologies, platform development, digital content, and asset monetisation
Direct the development of media buying and media planning to create ticket demand for 4Racing events held in region
Maintain/build strong relationships with partners to ensure partner led marketing initiatives and content partners across cable, satellite, and digital distribution platforms to foster and grow linear TV and digital content businesses
Direct all marketing activity incl. brand guidelines, media positioning etc.
EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

8+ experience in Sports Marketing, within a rights holder, events, and ticketing environment
Extensive domestic and international network within the media and betting rights environment
Proven track record of working on OTT direct to consumer media
Proven track record of sponsorship acquisition
Results focussed with High value selling, negotiating and persuasive skills with a demonstrable track record
Experience with strategic planning, marketing, and delivery of large-scale events
Proven ability developing, implementing, and measuring sales and marketing activities
Evidence of good commercial judgment and decision-making capabilities. Compelling evidence of managing and developing key relationships
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present at board level
Strong financial literacy - able to develop a practical system of results to monitor progress against the operating plans and objectives
Experience of managing a P & L and sound financial management
Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external
Strong leader, with experience of successfully leading and managing diverse teams
Given the nature of the role able to travel and work unsociable hours including weekends

Won't be surprised if any of the Old Guard fail to apply.
Too much on the plate and performance - orientated, the COO will need to have understudies to assist I presume.
Now here's a position for Mr Racing with his vast experience. :whistle:

There are many young dynamic people all over SA that will outperform the old guard. Lets hope they get given a chance. Some new outside talent.

This is an impressive and interesting job spec - no mention of preference for BEE or EE candidates - which, in itself is not a negative given 4Q's diabolical track record of one too many token appointments.

.....in these events I believe that they already have their man.....and only go through the exercise to advertise positions to give legitimacy to their choice.....will be very surprised if a relatively unconnected induvial is given this position ...:huh:

This is a very important and challenging position that could make a big difference to the future direction of racing.

I do believe that a large budget and innovation will be required if this person is to succeed as it will be impossible on a shoestring expenditure and only the current product offering.

Fully support having measurable and measured outcomes as customer numbers is the key to the future success of racing.

For too long turnover has been the only focus and this has led to an unsustainable dependence on only a few players which racing can ill afford. Turnover gains should be a derivative of customer gains and the sport will benefit from an approach where large numbers of players provide smaller per capita contributions.

This new person should realise that racing needs the exposure that comes from having a large and growing customer base that both advertisers and sponsors want to see before getting involved.

Wishing whoever gets appointed well in what could be the most pivotal position that racing has ever had.

If Charles Savage, Fundi Sithebe or Colin Gordon were to apply for this job, considering their performance at 4Racing - would you consider them for the position?

In my books, they would not make the shortlist - Unfortunately, some unsuspecting sole is going to be dealt a lemon by these badly handicapped leadership teammates.
