Maiden Handicap Runners Question ???

If u have a runner in a Maiden Handicap and the horse runs up to shit what do u do post race. This is in relation to any horse not carrying top weight in the race .

I think one needs to look for another Maiden Handicap - apart from the top weight - also I think the last 4 in the race today will struggle to win a race ever - no matter where :unsure:

that race was run faster than the fillies MR68 so I think you could take your chance in a low grade handicap or same sex maiden - they are mostly young fillies going ground(the bottom3) - i think only NODREAMTOOBIG will battle to place while the others will earn for owners

In South Africa, maidens rarely run in handicaps after attaining a handicap mark after 3 runs compared to the UK. 3yos can definitely benefit due to the weight allowances especially early on in the season. In the UK, I have seen horses that have won after more than 20 runs in handicaps. They even have Classified Stakes for horses with low ratings like from 45 to 55.

In any division, if one’s horse runs more than ten lengths behind, twice in a row, then it’s time to hang up it’s horseshoes.

Race 2 Turffontein. Agia Sofia has run last in all 3 of its runs, many lenghts behind. Rated 11. The lowest rating I have come across.
