Why is poly such a lottery ?

....although the results are not off the charts today....some sorts that seem to enjoy this surface have missed the frame...and one has gotta think that there may be inconsistencies with the surface.....Poly surfaces can behave adversely due to many factors ...and like I wrote under todays Greyville thread.....not my poison.....as there seems to be a bias against horses finishing on the inside of the straight today.....also there seems to be a bit more clumping of the substrate in the straight while on the bend it seems to be much drier....also noticed the discoloration where the starting stall tracks have flattened the surface is like yellow beach sand yet the course especialy in the straight is much darker ....:S

Friday,Monday and today at Greyville all had some of the pick 6 carried over.
Friday we only had 46 horses to choose from.
KZN is the worst advertisement for horse racing you can get.
Luck is what you need in this place not form reading skills.
You got so much going against the punter it's not funny.
From rubbish inconsistent horses, jockeys who get more wrong than right,to hoping the horse has been trained properly in the mornings and the trainers are not looking after the horses MR for a future punt.
I honestly think the quality is lower than Flamingo Park and that was really poor.

Some great food for thought, Muhti...

I have one or two observations...
The distance between first and last barring something amiss, is compacted/concentrated on the Poly. Thus the slightest infringement/error could and does result in a horse finishing unplaced and less than 2 lengths behind.
The Poly is not consistent across the track and appears to be treated less between races compared to when it was a novelty/new (my perception, at least)
The track is tighter, more horses are compromised at the start, Draw 1 is definitely not the best, on Wednesday they shifted the field out by one in one of the races...why? why not all? Punters are not informed, just a case of do what you like?
Everyone rushes for the outside rail entering the "straight" because the track is to tight
Too much leniency given to horses/jockeys taking up running, bumping, boring etc. because they know that the track is to tight.
Just my perceptions...

......I believe that the track on the outside rail has more "juice" in it.... and most jocks know it....saw some that in earlier races went inside and tailed off....and although they are trying to treat the surface equally....the outside is being juiced by the moisture from the turf....this does not make the surface heavy but binds the wax making it less viscous and the surface firmer and faster....where as the inside gets no juice as it borders a tarmac and any surface watering is mostly lost under that surface as there is a tidal pull for below surface water to move towards the sea ...the lack of sufficient juice there would not bind the wax as much and a horse foot would rotate deeper into the surface....slowing it down....

Muhti, my memory is not what it used to be, one of Mr Hawaii's selections...Aurora Storm...was wheel spinning if I heard correctly...and this supports your observations.
