.....although the RTR concept is nothing new....it did get a bum rap when tricky Micky unloaded the last of his lot in a fire sale where a much younger well monied individual in his baptism of fire ,first got his fingers burnt....and thereafter CTS capitalized on that market as the only one still standing....much hype and careful trickery pulled many a bargain hunter into the soup of the day....as one is supposed to have a better idea of how a horse moves so one can avoid good walkers and good lookers that only look good walking and have no action....also a horse should be able to go straight to a yard and not really ready to run but able to go into work to speed up to a track debut....however for a RTR sale this is a cracker catalogue ....and if you get it horribly wrong you will be in the minority....you could chuck 5 darts at it and still get a decent sort....but gotta see them move as good as they look first....

.....very smooth and well planned despite the short notice....not a single hitch for the online viewers but not the fireworks I was expecting as it seems that most of the action was from the home turf boys and girls.....a mixed bag of results as there were a larger number of not solds more so from a particular stud that maybe forming a racing syndicate to try get better value.....it will also be interesting to see who the Pied Piper is buying for, as he got the best mover there.....

Some very clear buybacks that inflated averages.

Not sure why anyone would pay the prices at recent sales with stakes so low and training fees so high..
Especially with breeders and the richest owners inflating prices with the hopes that the export protocols will be lifted

.....this question is asked after almost every recent sale....but the picture is becoming clearer with what is happening in the Cape where there is a concerted effort to increase stakes and draw stakeholders back into racing.....however with that being said it has been for some ....never really been about racing for trying to recoup the spend....it is for the prestige and in some cases for passion that people have and the price tag is immaterial.
Do you think that Godolphin turns a profit....
I recon that the prices achieved at this recent sale were rather tame compared to sales of this nature in days gone by......Take the sales topper of a ZAR1.1BAR bought by offshore interests out of Mauritius that are not short of buying power. They now have one of very few imported horses that have landed up here and related to Alboran Sea.... he moved pretty well in his pre-sale gallop with a very nice fluid action....and he appears to be still growing and should furnish into a much stouter frame....he was sold on the recent NYS for ZAR1.2BAR and obviously went to Brett Crawford for conditioning and put on this sale to qualify for further stake incentives offered by this sale...and in the past many many more buy backs were the order of the day....so his price has not been inflated at all and imo now worth his initial tag....now that all can see he will make it to a race course barring any mishaps and may perform as well as his genetics indicate....the buyer had already spent his tom and is merely paying Cape Sales a small entry fee to compete in a race where he can try recoup some of his spend.....

......was referring to lot 64 a Querari colt with a very speedy action....debuts in a high value novice plate on Kings Plate day in a race with added Cape Racing bonus....wonder if Ricky Maingard got any more from that sale.... but this one looks like it can run....
