No. Horse didn't gain any advantage, and was then just slow out the gates.

Yes. It isn't about whether there was advantage, rather what disadvantage did the horse suffer because the handler took the hood off too early? Thor I suggest you get your eyes checked mate the horse smashed into the gates he wasnt slow away. This horse opened favourite and started joint favourite so was well fancied. Punters did their cash because of a fault by the handler. In exotics if you bankered the horse you went out, if it got scratched you went through.

I'm sick of these fu$king stipes being inconsistent.

Not saying it was slow away OTA, but rather that it was slow away after hitting the gates open. Your perspective is definitely what happened, and doesnt take any good eyesight to see, but what I mean is that I'm certain I've seen many cases like this before where the runner was also kept a live one?
The fact that it was slow away marginally thereafter was tough luck. What do the rules say regarding this? My view is only based on history.

61.5.11 The decision of the starter concerning the start of a RACE and whether a “no start” shall
be declared, shall be reported to the SB.

61.5.12 In the event that the starter wishes to recall the RIDERS he shall activate the siren to
indicate to the RIDERS that a “no start” has been declared.

61.5.13 Should the starter declare a “no start” and the RACE cannot be re-started forthwith, the
RMR shall after consultation with the SB either:
61.5.13.1 declare the RACE a “no RACE” and abandon it; or
61.5.13.2 order the RACE to be re-run at such time during the same RACE MEETING as it may
appoint.

Thor

The gate closes back on the horse, therefore hampering it

The people who sat on the board need their heads wobbling

What did the JHB based stipes say when they reviewed the footage using the fancy tech.

Horse should have been a non runner.

As per a Sporting Post comment on rules.

61.5.10.2, such HORSE shall not be declared a non-runner if, in the sole discretion of the
SB, such impediment and subsequent loss of distance was as a consequence of the
HORSE’S own behaviour.
