RUGBY
PREVIEW: SHARKS V LIONS
The Sharks hit top gear against Griquas last week, so are priced to win their semi-final against the Lions by 13.5 points in Durban on Saturday.
BETTING VERDICT
The Lions appear to be the side to back on the handicap in this match. They have been strong on the road all season, and the fact that this is a semi-final means it is likely to be more closely contested than a group-stage match.
BETTING
Outright
Sharks 1/6
Draw 50/1
Lions 6/1
Handicap
Sharks -13.5 at 19/20
Lions +13.5 at 19/20
SUGGESTED BET
The Lions are worth a decent sized bet at the current handicap of +13.5

PREVIEW: BLUE BULLS V FS CHEETAHS
The Blue Bulls are 13.5 point favourites for their Currie Cup semi-final against the Cheetahs in Pretoria on Saturday afternoon.
BETTING VERDICT
There seems little doubt that the Bulls will win this match but the Cheetahs look like the side to back on the handicap, mainly because semi-finals are usually closely contested.
BETTING
Outright
Bulls 2/11
Draw 50/1
Cheetahs 6/1
Handicap
Bulls -13.5 at 9/10
Cheetahs +13.5 at 1/1
SUGGESTED BET
The Cheetahs look worth a small bet to keep things respectable and stay within the 13.5 point handicap.

HORSERACING
FRIDAY 10TH OCT 2008 - GREYVILLE NIGHT RACING
RACE 5 PREVIEW WITH TRAINERS' COMMENTS AND PENPICS
Tough racing ahead in KZN both tonight and Sunday; moderate fields, rain-soaked race tracks and no real stand out bets worth mention. What we do get is an interesting contest in the 5th race at Greyville this evening. A small but potent field take their place in the starting lineup, the bulk of which return from a break after the winter season. This leaves a few question marks around their race readiness so it was off to Summerveld to track down the contenders and conditioners for the inside story.
From an investment perspective this is no easy race to figure but it does afford the opportunity for us to see top class race horses in action, a rarity in KZN at this time of year. We’ve heard from the trainers that the main contenders won’t be at peak and this may well play into the hands of up and coming Citizen Dante who is expected to improve further. He’s not a runner than garners much public support in the way of betting and so just keep rolling in at good prices. The way I see it, Gilded Minaret at 12/10 and Outcome at 22/10 are for the bookies and offer no value in this contest, the rest are at Xmas odds so take your pick.
