I feel like i was anally violated without PROTECTION(pardon the pun) after what just transpired after that race. I'm so done with local racing. And yes, i am talking from my pocket. All my bets gone, just like that!!!

Regarding Total Protection.
If that race was run in the UK,certain bookmakers would deem it a Non- Runner for customer goodwill.
Are South African bookmakers missing an ideal opportunity to coax some new punters away from their rivals?

Even though I took Star Coin in all my bets, sad that so many lost out due to Total Protection...if money does not return to a majority of punters, there is no churn and hence pools will suffer, take out will suffer, prize money will suffer and horse-racing will die...
PA didn't even get to R265000 today...Bipot just got to R150000 but the overall picture is not looking good...and with 5 minutes to start of Pick 6, pool is just over R350000 (R500000 looks unlikely)...not good...

Just declare the horse as a scratching.
Punters did their lulu's without even getting a chance.

The Stewards have the power to declare a horse a non- runner
Also coming into effect on 30 March is a new Rule of Racing that gives power to the Raceday Stewards to declare a horse a non-runner after the race has been run. This provision will only apply to Flat races and only in certain circumstances. Examples are when starting stalls do not open but false start isn’t called, or if a jockey is not on the horse when the stalls are released.
Consequently, bets on such horse(s) which have palpably lost all chance at the start will be fully refunded to punters and, where applicable, Rule 4 deductions would apply to all other bets.
As the Rules of Racing currently stand, all horses in the stalls are deemed runners as soon as the Starter starts a race, unless a) a false start is called or b) there is then a void race for whatever reason.
This new provision will not apply in cases where:
a) The gates open properly but the horse chooses to plant at the start, be fractious or refuse to race; or
b) The gates open a split second after the rest of the field – an existing protocol exists for such circumstances.

how hard did the jock try to push total protection out of the gates? i would rather see him run unplaced 8 lengths behind but ive seen many a jock push horses out the stalls when they are left - horse has never had a problem jumping before

It looked bad. I couldn’t see him moving at all.
Do you think there something sinister going on?

I hesitated to add this to my comment i made earlier for fear of being labelled a sore loser looking for excuses but the jocks hands were dead still on that horse's neck. Zero urging whatsoever. A blind man could see that.

The way it looked on the replay, i do not blame you and every other punter asking the same question.
I do however doubt it.
Horse racing social platforms are blowing up... Rightfully soo.
