After the Gold Rush
2 years 4 months ago
Good morning all and a slightly delayed feedback on the WSB MET day.
I will try not to vent my feelings on the site but after getting water back after 4 days, our power cables were stolen yet again 🤬
As far as the MET I really enjoyed my day watching 240 and the odd switch over to Gallop for a couple of UK races.
This was a far more owner/punters day than the Kings Plate and sure it will grow from strength to strength.
I did listen to the concept of having a limit of 10,000 but I am sure that this figure will be at least be doubled for next year?
Well done to WSB for a superb day.
On the subject of owners I was delighted that some of the bigger investors in the game made the winners box on the big day.
Well done to AJ Van Huyssteen, Hollywood, Mary Slack, Bortz, the Viljoens, NIc Jonsson and sorry if I missed anyone.
My personal highlights were watching Soumillion riding skills especially on Desert Miracle and then breaking my heart and the pick 6 on Rascova.
I eventually went for Jet Dark and could not have wished for a more exciting race.
Nevada King getting up on the line was also nail biting and I was very pleased that Greg Bortz had two winners on the big day, he must have been full of Pomp and Power and well deserved.
It was also wonderful that Suzette Viljoen won the big prize on offer and then doubled the stake for the LUCKY groom .
He was OFF faster than any horse with the 50 grand under his arm 👏
There certainly is a couple of good races to come during the Cape season and look forward to seeing Charles Dickens, Pomp and Power and Desert Miracle??
Well done again to Snaith stables on Jet Darks win and great effort from the people's horse.
On the subject of Gold , what about Golden Sixty winning the Stewards Cup on Sunday, what a champ.
One last well done to the winners of our MET competition, we certainly have some shrewd punters on the site .
Look forward to see what we can do up North to compete with this upward trend in SA racing.
Good Punting 👍
