As per usual a detailed summary by JAP on the Empress Club - and I can't fault his reasoning; I made no secret though that I backed Desert Miracle A/P when Princess Calla was still an entry - but I have to admit that I am slightly worried today - and the main reason is that although her last run was clearly a prep run, DM was reported coughing - and that alone is a big concern - I also don't think she is a 124 (I have her at 119) but she still is clearly the one to beat at the weights - it all depends on her well-being imo

As to the race itself, I think it should be fought out between Desert Miracle, Under Your Spell, Gimme a Shot and Feather Boa - but the pace in this small field is a concern - and there are two of the most experience jocks in Khumalo and Fourie on Humdinger and Marigold Hotel, so they can't be ignored completely

As to the rest of the card, I don't fancy anything - smallish fields mean concerns about pace - and lots of IFs and BUTs about many runners on the day - so one will need a lot of luck to get it right imo

Enjoy B)

Pure predator probably the right one and huge value on exchange student to place if yard is back.

Woman of fame should win if repeat of last run in tough going

I agree with Frodo, it's hard to have confidence in just about every race. We're also having a spell where the bookies are having quite a few races with 'skinners'; simply impossible to find results.

I'm not rushing to have a bet (because I'm not big on backing horses at short prices who don't have a win next to their name in their last 10 starts when I look at my Computaform), but why isn't Crimson Princess the fav in R5? She has massive weight swings with #'s 1 and 2 from their run on the 29th Oct and to top that on a line through Bureau Des Legende that line of form is confirmed. She's run well at this trip as an older Silvano filly in the last 6 months too, so I actually think this is the perfect trip for her now on the Standside track.

At the weights I'd also be including Southern Song if playing tote exotics.

GIMME A SHOT and FEATHER BOA seem to be the money horses in the big race which I find slightly weird

Must be something in the water- as I agree on R5 as well ....

The way the track is running should suit Simply Magic to mow them down late

Not saying a horse can't win from a small draw up the straight, but as usual I wouldn't be having my cash on anything drawn low.
