4Racing has completed the reorganisation of the company into four operational business divisions - ‘Head Office’, ‘Racing Operations’, ‘Betting’ and ‘Content’ – all with its own unit heads geared for growth with a unique customer product offering, resources and skills.

Gabriel Soma has been appointed as 4Racing’s Head of Racing Operations, with the task of maintaining and growing 4Racing’s world-class horseracing product and smooth running of its annual fixtures.
Soma will also be responsible for the oversight of events/hospitality, event marketing and sponsorships that go hand in hand with the racing calendar and will report directly to 4Racing Chief Executive Officer Fundi Sithebe.
The Betting Operations division will be headed by Neil Walters, with the responsibility of the management of the tote, retail outlets and other online betting opportunities.
The Content division will be headed by Stephen Watson, who will spearhead 4Racing branching out locally and internationally into new areas to augment strong existing revenue streams. The Content division will include the company’s broadcast, publishing, brand and communications functions.
The Betting and Content divisions will report into 4Racing Chief Operating Officer, Colin Gordon, who will focus on the company’s core revenue generating operations.
In addition to oversight of the company’s horseracing operations, 4Racing CEO Sithebe will focus on the company’s strategic stakeholder and industry relations and drive its transformation program.
The company’s Administration division will be led by 4Racing’s Chief Financial Officer Potlako Mophiring, and will provide support in financial control, procurement, human resources, company secretariat and payroll.
“The reorganisation of 4Racing is geared at creating a leaner, more performance-driven and accountable business. We are all well aware of the challenges of the horseracing industry and also the difficult economic conditions prevalent in the country, which makes this reorganisation process even more important and critical. By separating the business into these distinct divisions, we believe that each unit will have greater autonomy to grow faster, deliver better results and provide a better working environment for staff and better opportunities for growth for our many industry partners,” said Sithebe.

Their main betting site tab4racing.com should offer sports and fixed odds horse racing. Tabgold through Track and Ball also offer USA racing on other venues not only the venues broadcast on 4Racing, Channel 240. They should consider this.

Need some clarity. Does a punter have to wager their bets through betontab to get the loyalty bonus.

I missed this announcement.

If this announcement was made 50 years ago, its would have been acceptable to the SA minority given the political history of our country and Gabi's highest qualification being a matric certificate.

WE LIVE IN 2023 AND IN WHICH WORLD DOES AN EMPLOYER (4Q) ADVERTISE A POSITION HIGHER THAN A GENERAL MANAGER AND USE A QUALIFYING CRITERIA FOR THAT JOB TO BE A MATRIC CERTIFICATE?????? Does this sound like graft and corruption. Or is Fundi and Savage on some highly intoxicating medication?

Are we all living in cloud cuckoo land!

4Q is going to have a stack of mansplaining to couch why they overlooked more qualified and colourful applicants to choose a matriculant with a historically very advantaged past.

Lets not get into Gabi's conflict of interest of being and owner who is responsible for race programming of his horses and the horses that his uncle trains and he is a blood stock agent and his brother...... the story is endless.

This could be a facinitating hypothetical case study but sadly a reality in 4Q Land.

@ saint t,

I have been in business all my life.
There are some professions that money cant buy experience or university degrees cant add value.

i own a farm and and i grow flowers for the biggest supermarket chain in South Africa and supply a world class product to Tesco and the likes,
My Chief grower has only a Std 3 education.
and to identify these other skills that the children have on our farm, we've established an academy that this grower will impart on these future generation.
Gabbi is a horseman , but beong exposed to the training ranks, breeding ranks etc will no doubt hold him in good standing I hope in the way the programming of horseracing needs to be at.

i hope him well as i think , they have identified in someone who is vastly capable.

infact , ill go in so far to say , that previous appoints with all their degrees have fcuked up racing because of their lack of understanding.

Racing is being kept alive for executive wages... Incredible how many have ties

Hearing the actual numeration is much higher now, than in the old days (Wages plus Jooste shares)
