Re: TURFFONTEIN SAT 29 APRIL - WSB CHAMPION5HIPS FINALE
2 years 1 month agoCould be a case of 'famous last words' again as this does not look that hard imo ..... thoughts ....
R1: Can't find too many spooks here - unless of course one of the first-timers are catching pigeons at home - but we will only find that out if the money talks closer to race time; on raced form I think Cala Muretta looks the right one from Phantom Express who is drawn right down the inside - at least this should show up any draw bias earl
Enjoy![]()
.....would tread carefully here as there are more than a few 1st timers that may have a bit of ability.....![]()
.....and the 1st four all 1st timers finished way ahead of the fancied raced runners.....
Yes - but it did not help any that both fancied runners kept to their stations down the inside - not always easy to say based on one race, but I expect most to queue up on the stand side for the next 3 sprints - luck in running could play a part

2 years 1 month ago.....need to see what Muzi did to have her so far off the pace.....she finished like a rocket.....but heard the commentator say she was under pressure but not in the picture half way down the straight.....I think she may need a bit further...........really like the ped of Rani of Kittur and was a standout at the sales last year.....had her in my play on debut and think she may be something special.....![]()

So you can win from the inside if you have the horse - what an outstanding ride by Fourie though

I think you can win from the inside if you come to the outside. A very similar ride to what he did on Tread Swiftly over the same CD recently. This time he really battled to get in behind and come across initially, but once he got her to the outside she steamed home. I expect he'll track the early pace likely to come from 7 and 8 in R5 and then switch Lucky Lad to the outside for his final run through, or if he can track 1 towards the outside if he manages to get Lucky Lad across to the outside early.

He is very unlikely to finish up champion jock this season, but he is the best around imo, although stats-wise nothing seperates him and De Melo.

.......but there does appear to be a sticky spot middle to inside.....when Fourie and others came across it their mounts lost momentum.....here Fourie going out to take on the runner up got the firmer stuff and got past.....trying the the inside run a different story......Cullinan Blue kept straight through the sticky spot and hence stopped to a walk.....

She looked like she came off the bit for a couple of strides... Finished nicely, it well be interesting to hear what Muzi thought.
